I just liked the sound of it. No special meaning as far as I know. I saw it in a list of chicken names. Thought it was cute, and seeing that Squirrelwhisperer is more for my wildlife rehab I figured I would change it.

We have lots of them around here and several of them have been "visiting" my chickens in the daytime recently. Freaks me out but the girlz always make such a ruckus when they come into the yard that I've been able to scare them away before something bad happened. That's the risk of free-ranging though. I just wish someone would tell them that they're supposed to be NOCTOURNAL!
Here's what we heard from our deck, behind our chicken coops in April (the red brooder light was keeping the baby Marans toasty warm):

We have some also during the day and they have been howling like that also. We actually have been sitting on lawn chairs while the girls are "free ranging" in a fenced area about 25x 25 just because the coyotes have been so close.

Hi, John.. I am planning a get-together at my house (Derby) on October 1. Not a lot of info to give at the moment - it's been a pretty busy summer so far! I just sat my Board Exam on Monday (sooo glad it is over, but won't get the results until late Oct.) Now to get Vacation Bible School/grandparent visit/camping trip out of the way.
I just heard on the news that 21-year-old Matthew Trasacco who lived on Horse Hill Road was killed today on that road. Hope it was not the fellow chicken keepers son.
I don't know the Trasacco's. My wife and I heard about the accident on the news this morning too. So sorry for their heartbreak. They are not the family I approached about the Silkies though. It appears there are a lot of chicken people in these here parts.
