Hi all.. pondering a move from New Haven to Clinton.. and can't seem to find anything on having chickens there. Legal? Any ideas?

No personal knowledge of Clinton's rules, but if you can't find anything on a town website you can call the Building & Zoning department and they may have the information you need, or point you in the right direction. And since this is a 'what if' without an actual address, if the answer is 'not allowed' and you decide otherwise, there won't be anything to tip them off to check that you're in compliance when/if you do move there... I found this for Clinton. It is ambiguous and confusing because the parts about keeping chickens are in red and crossed out. Yeah.. make an anonymous "just thinkin' about moving" phone call to get clarification on that.

Somehow the name seems appropriate to me

Went to Bridgewater Fair on Sunday and managed to come back WITHOUT any new additions to my little chicken family, despite the wonderful birds available...sigh.

Sorry Tina, the presence of my husband makes me behave (sometimes).... I'm still surprised I was able to talk him into the 5 hens I have! He'd agree to 3 - at which point I observed that one could quite likely turn out to be a rooster, and chicks have a high mortality rate - so why not have 2 'spares'? I think next spring I might be able to charm him with some new chicks.... IF I can get these ones to believe that pooping on the slate patio is NOT in their best interests!

I'm not sure about their rules but, I would call the zoning enforcement officer at the town hall and say exactly what you just wrote and they should be able to assist you with the rules and regs
