I waited for my Hubby to come home to beg him and he said the only way he'd let me buy 2 is if I sell enough chickens to pay for them

Does anyone know a vet in CT that vaccinates for mareks? Or has anyone done it themselves? From all I have read I should get this done- my chicks are aready 5/6 days old. any info appreciated! you can pm me if you prefer.

You can call Dr. Paul Elwell in Roxbury (860) 354-8612 to check or call Dr. Michael Darre up at UCONN (860) 486-1008.

I thought the Marek vaccine was only effective if given on day 1, but I could be wrong.

So I really thought today my 19 week old BR was going to give me her first egg... she has really red wattles & comb, she's been doing the 'submissive squat for several days now, and she was clucking like something was going on (and the other 4 watching her like she was up to something) but ... nothing. Sigh. Patience may be a virtue but it's not one I possess!

Have you just about given up yet??? Mine laid the very first egg the day AFTER I said to my DH that they would never lay and I was never going to check a nest box again

Hey, I just saw my first RAT out in the run. Yuk! I put rocks over the hole that it popped out of (conveniently located near the outside food). What next? Does anyone have a great method to get rid of them?
