I can't believe it! 3 pm on February 22nd and it's 55* out with a bright sun. Why just last night it was down to 28*F here in Manchester. I used the good weather to do some yard clean-up, just wearing a sweatshirt (and pants, of course).

I predict that all the Spring flowers will be 5-6 weeks early if this keeps up. But, it could just as easily turn around and bite us in the bum with a big storm too! You never know.

I am still expecting something will sneak up on us.

At least that tends to happen when you have set plans to work outside.

Seriously, Connecticut? We have at least two tulips poking up already. I'm afraid all the plants have been tricked and will get their comeuppance in March with a nasty wintery storm.

And it's starting the spring guilt early. Must clear the rest of the downed trees from October. And build a chicken run. And clear leaves. And start raised beds for veggies to feed us and our future chickens. Sigh. Grad school runs through May, darnit. I don't have time to take advantage of this weather!

I think we could get clobbered yet. I recall one year like this; the apple trees started to blossom and BANG! 8" of snow followed by freezing rain/sleet. The apple trees didn't recover until next year. March is always tricky as far as weather goes. If this nice weather keeps up into March, then it will go out like a lion, so they say...

Hi All-

We are in Woodbridge, CT.

We have 10 chickens right now with an order in for some more in the summer time. We currently have
1 Barred Rock hen
1 Buff Orpington hen
1 Ancona hen
1 New Hampshire Red hen
3 silkes, 2 white hen and pullet, 1 black hen
1 Quail Antwerp Belgian Bantam pullet
1 Golden Sebright Bantam pullet
1 Silver Laced Wynadotte hen

So looking forward to getting more and we just got an incubator ordered and have some olive egger eggs coming in the mail to hatch ourselves (fingers crossed).

Anyone local have any lavender orps or cochins?
