If you're in northwestern CT, where are you getting your straw at a reasonable price? Preciously, I was only picking up a bale or so a year, so I didn't mind picking it up at the farm stand, but I'm needing to buy more of it now so I'd like a better source. Anyone have any favorite places?

What about hay? Same thing - was only picking up a bale once or twice a year, so was getting it at TSC.

I would be interested in finding out as well, I am in Northwest CT and I go to thomaston Feed and Grain but they charge 7.00 per bale. cost more to head to TSC in gas so I pay it.

check on cl for hay in your area you can buy it from farmers much cheaper we pay 2.50-3$ for bedding hay an 5$ for second cut feed hay.

there's nothing for straw on cl at all; that's what I am most in need of. there is one listing for hay that i have to email about - they didn't really give any info.

I buy from Agway and have seeds on the chickens love that.
TSC have people who buy and get mice,hope this help

Also look out for mites that may be in the hay/straw. Especially if its been sitting around.​

OK guys, I need a mini-poll. My shipment is coming from My Pet Chicken on Monday, and I'm wondering how long it might take to get here. How many of you got yours from there, and how long did it take?

Can you tell I'm impatient? And worried about my little chicks overheating on their journey? Ack!

I'm working a 12-hr shift on Monday and I think it's going to be the LONGEST shift ever. Filled with visions of darting fluffbutts.

MPC ships chicks from Amish country, Ohio. My chicks were shipped out Tuesday (according to the DC# scan, they were first scanned at 7:30 pm) and they arrived at the post office here in Canton, CT around 11:00 AM Wednesday. My last shipment from them also came the day after it shipped.
