Pompona gasped. Vena yelped and sprung at Maddox's hind.

Gabby backed behind a tree. Mel was walking slowly towards Reynardia, grinning, as if she was a predator stalking its prey.

"Well, you," Mel snickered, "what are we going to do with you?" She flicked a tiny rock off of her paw.

Pompona gasped. Vena yelped and sprung at Maddox's hind.

Maddox kicked out strongly at Vena with his hindpaws while his front claws gripped Pompona's shoulders to hold on. He reached out carefully but quickly and rubbed his claw along the length of the horn, shaving off one small piece like a cheese grader and tucking it in his feathers. It was hardly noticable, only a small flat spot on one side.

Reynardia scowled, "Why have you betrayed Consenia?" she growled, her bow would be useless, so she drew her dagger as well.

Pompona kicked out with her hind leg but caught nothing with it. In desperation she dug her hooves into the dirt, trying to tear Maddox off.

Mel tilted her head to the side, still grinning. "It is mine."

Reynardia growled. "You'll never do it." she said.

"You think you can stop me?" She said, her voice hinting that she was taunting her.

Pompona kicked out with her hind leg but caught nothing with it. In desperation she dug her hooves into the dirt, trying to tear Maddox off.

As Maddox was on her back, he was able to hang out despite her attempts to throw him off. He reached once more towards her horn and sliced off another peice, adding it to the first one under his feathers.
