We have 2 Aeuracanas (sp) that have been daily layers, they used to be free range until a few of their sisters got eaten. We now have had to build them a 20x20 enclosed run and incorporate them in with a new flock also that had been cooped seperate. Since doing this they have stopped laying all together. The only other difference is that our weather has also gotten much colder as well. They are eating, walking and acting normal. Any ideas why they have stopped laying? They are about a year old.

Ameraucana? Araucana? Or Easter Eggers?
Pics might help.
Yes, the stress of being confined now may stop laying.
How old are they in months?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Hard to say why. In general, chickens don't like change, change can stress them. Sometimes that can cause them to stop laying for a while. How long has this been going on? Sometimes it can initiate a molt, have you see feathers flying around?

You mention the weather is much colder. That implies you are in the northern hemisphere. Periods of severe weather can cause them to cut back or temporarily stop laying.

Are you sure they are not hiding a nest? That's one of the most common reasons for hens to "stop" laying.
