ANyway, my broody is sitting on 3 eggs right now. One was laid this morning, so for SURE it will be fertile too. Yippee!!! The other two were laid a couple days ago. One is harder to see in, but there does look to be red in it -- but it doesn't seem to be as much as the other one that I'm SURE is fertile. So I can't be sure about that one. And it's just as well my broody is sitting on them, because while I'm gone, no one will be here to rotate my incubator. I have no more eggs left in there, so it worked out fine since I'll be gone this weekend. I'd ask my DH to rotate it, but I know he'll forget. Besides-- isn't a broody the best way to incubate if you have one? I can't wait!! I can't wait!!

YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Hawkeye

. You have been waiting for awhile for that to happen, I'm happy for you! Since I saw your post I decided to go check mine, even though it's early yet. I was going to wait until Sat., but I went ahead & candled them to see if I could see anything & sure enough. So far there are for sure 6 Ameraucana eggs that are growing & 8 EE eggs. I have about 6 or 7 that are questionable other than those, so I will check them again Sat. & make sure they're no good & then toss them so I can make room for more. I really was surprised to see growth already. I guess those of you who hatch lots of chicks & have huge incubators probably don't bother candling, but those of us with tiny incubators have to be concerned with space. I don't think I'll ever even want to hatch anything near the volume you do Danz, but I wouldn't mind at some point when I get all of my breeds separated that I want to raise getting a bigger incubator. I will have to watch for a super bargain though because I definitely can't afford a new one.

Well we thought we would hear that our car is in by now, but no such luck. I told my DH that it doesn't look like it's going to be this week after all

. Oh well, it will be great when it does get here, maybe we will have nicer weather then.

Oh, I forgot, I saw a post on FB by Candace & she is home & doing better. She has to go in to be checked daily for awhile, but so far she is doing OK. I was glad to hear that news, that was scary!

Thanks everyone for ail the thoughts and prayers and concern. it was scary for sure, but I am going to be ok. Hanging onto that, the tests every day are for the meds I am on, they are thinning my blood. Had one clot hit one lung and a "few" hit the other, I say 2 or 3.... No, they are not sure where it came from, but didn't see any in my legs, I have to talk with a vascular surgeon about this, but I am not looking back, just forward. I am limited on computer time, so am trying to play catch up, but didn't think to check in. I do appreciate the concern! If anyone has any questions or anything, you can pm me or bop me and I can let y'all know how things are going.
Thanks again!

What a lousy drippy day. I sunk to the top of my boots in the guinea pen. Those poor birds out there!
Congratulations! Hawkeye!
It's big time chicken math now!!!!
Ivy or anyone else that has raised Peafowl. My young peacock was displaying for his lady this morning. I was told they wouldn't lay until they are 3 years old. If they can't lay why are they displaying? Just curious.

Hello, all!

I'm afraid I haven't time to comment on all the many things I'd like to, but I'm praying for those who need prayers, congratulating those who deserve congrats, and waving at everyone else!

Susie, did you say you wanted a Lav Orp roo? Was that you? I have one that is in need of a home.

Also, I have the contact info of a guy in Nebraska wanting Marans, and I thought you could help him. I'll pm you the contact info later.

Does anyone have experience with Chinese brown geese?

I have a pair and need to know their genders. I took them for the folks down the road from the farm, as they thought them a nuisance and at under a year, hadn't laid eggs or anything.

I know a male is supposed to have a larger knob, and one goose is ever-so-slightly larger than the other, but they are almost indiscernible.

No eggs so far, and neither is aggressive, but they are rather terrified of everyone.

They are like two halves of a whole.

If you can tell gender, I'm all ears!

Thank yOU everyone!! SO excited!

Danz, I'd be on that woman too! Absolutely appalling that she ignored a complaint like that! Think of all the other people living there that are being neglected by her! Glad you got your mom taken care of. And-- great picture of your babies! I see a Polish in there!!! LOVE Polish!! I think I could have just done with my silkies and Polish and been happy with nothing else.

Trish, sounds like you've been busy too. Yeah, I'm all done in on the rain. Congrats on your fertile eggs too!! YAY! I was seriously jumping up and down I was so excited!! I can't believe at 2 days you can see blood and veins!!! WOOHOO!!! (it could be day 3--- I can't remember when I got the egg)

Renee, no idea, but the one definitely does have a larger knob and I wonder if it might get bigger when he matures a bit more?? Otherwise, maybe both girls?? They are gorgeous!!

Candace, oh girl, I was praying for you! That was soooooooo scary!! So glad you are better and doing fine.

So I've been busy all day today! The Littles had preschool this morning, and then we came home and washed our last chicken and got her blow dried out. Then I started assembling all the stuff I need for them. I also worked on cleaning out my car and vacuumed it and washed down all the seats. (leather, easy to do) I just need to finish up giving the front console a once over and it's clean and ready for our trip. I need to figure out how to pack the extra shavings. We're going to leave at 9am in the morning so we can get up there at noon and have lunch in Lawrence. We'll spend the day in Lawrence and then meet up with my brother for dinner at Piasano's. (I probably spelled that wrong) but it's my favorite Italian restaurant up there. I wanted to go to FreeState, but my brother reminded me that the game will be on and Mass St. will be NUTS. Forgot about that. ANyway-- lots more to do!!! I'm sure I'll be back when it's dark and I've gotten everything done.

Wishing you the best of luck on the show!! Paisano's (you were close in the spelling!) is a great restaurant! It's just a couple blocks from my house, which is a scary thing when it comes to me choosing places to eat out at! Your brother is absolutely right about Mass street too! For me, the best time to go shopping is during game time.. hehe.
