Consolidated Kansas

I agree Pikeman. One time I took my students against the city and we kicked back side. We did it because they went in each with a different facet of education for the city hall. We could divide up the basic components of contention and have several presenters. Invite the press put on a display of education that would blow them away. In fact make fools of them if they say no. Use other communities and their basic rules. Sell the Victory chicken flock, Comepare pets dogs verses chickens, and more. Lets divide and concour! sp?

Mikeksfarmer - sorry for your loss! I will buy coffee on Friday! Have dealt with rogue dogs from neighbors that don't care in my neck of the woods - got a big german shepherd that took care of the problem for me and he loves the chickens

Anyone know anyone in the Wichita area who will butcher the roos? I still have one to get rid of and can't find a home for him - he's not a people friendly bird so can't in good conscience give him to a family.

I hope to get the nerve to be able to butcher my roos in the future - since the logical reason is that someone is probably going to eat them - might as well be me - but I named this one and think I will have to wait u ntil my baby is young enough to understand before I can get away with it.

Thank you Mayabcs3 though I try not to drink coffee I will be happy to shake your hand and carry on a dialog. I think we should consider addressing the Olathe chicken issue and a plan of presentation. I am sure there is more. As the Hens of Larry ville are ignoring us maybe we should choose a spot and hope that they bring their increadable knowledge and expericnce to help another community move forward on Friday. I am game for either Olathe or Larwance. If someone will pick a location and list the address I will suggest we meet at 10 am. I guess the North East Kansas Back yard chickens Association is struggling to organize its self. Maybe if Democracy and politics wont work we should have a dictator ship. Or we could apeal to apithetic welfare? In or out, please someone pick a location because I dont drink coffee and I dont live in either Lawrence or Olathe. And yes I am a smart A**.

Hugs to all who love chickens!

Hey friends I need a little help here. One of my favorite girls has come down sick. She us fluffed up and just stands there. Yesterday she spent all day in the nesting box. Last night I brought her in. This morning I put her out again only to find her just standing there fluffed up again. Her crop is full mostly liquid. if I massage it a little I can make puke a little. I am concerned she may have a block or GI infection. Anyone see this before?
On another note I guess we are not meeting Tomorrow. Maybe next week I can pick out a place we can meet. that is if we do want to meet. It may be overrated if few of us want to do this.
Any way advise needed and thanks!

Not a perfect solution, but if you don't find anyone else, I'll come by and help when I come to town next. Won't be until right after Christmas though.

Mike- that's sour crop! You need to search out the posts on it- sometimes it requires surgery, and there's a how-to by book of ruth, I think.

I'm not experienced with it, but she's starving to death until you get the blockage out of the way. We do have chicken doctors in town at Gentle Care animal hospital. I wouldn't think anything less of you for getting her help- I've been a steady income for them for a special needs bird!

Good luck- I'm out for Friday, as I've got toooooo much going on! This is the hardest month!

Supposedly they've all decided on Dec 26th. Last I heard anyways. Apparently there is an ongoing dispute between 2 of my siblings, so it could change to the 25th.

Family, what are you going to do.

So unless there's bad road conditions, I should be there on the 27th. Somebody may be able to help you out before then. I read a lot here in the meatbirds section and watched a bunch of Youtube vids and just gave it a go. It's not as bad as I had thought it would be and the accomplishment you feel afterwords is well worth the effort. No more stressing over rehoming or giving away birds I've put good money into.

Don't forget the big poultry show is in Shawnee OK this weekend. The BYC Okies are having a couple of get togethers for anyone who can make it.
