Consolidated Kansas

Wow! Eggs at 3 months! Mine were quite a bit older than that when I got my first egg. Congrats to you!

Whew! I just got my coop ready for the ladies. It's an antique horsedrawn blacksmith wagon that I've converted into a coop. It's been a challenge. Anyway, I think it has turned out very nice. It's certainly the nicest coop I've ever had. I'm sure it doesn't compare to some of the coops I've seen on here made by folks who obviously have some woodworking and construction know-how, but for this old lady I think it's turning out pretty good. Plans have changed along the way, but I think it has turned out better than I had originally planned.

Now I need to go out with a flashlight and catch the girls and haul them around the shop to their new home. I'm going to use it for my layers and any others that I'm not in the process of saving eggs for hatching.

I'll get pictures another day. By the time I finish out there today I'm going to be beat!

One of my girls has taken to laying right before roosting for the night. So this 11 degree morning I got an egg so cold it hurt to hold in my hand. Can an egg freeze without cracking the shell? And if it can is that egg still okay to use?
