Will someone with a PC please tell me how to increase the size of the font. Somehow I got it microscopic in size and cannot find how to change it. Even my yahoo account is teeny tiny. This is terrible. I am used to a mac, not a PC

Try holding down the CTRL key and the + (plus) key. For each stroke of the +, you should see an increase in size. The - (minus) key will reverse it so if you get too big, just minus a couple of times to get back to where you want it.

My internet is down and has been most of the last two days.. Grrr! Anyway I decided I would try to do some answering and send it if it came back up. Trish I got to thinking. You can buy the chainlink rails and fittings for corners and make your own gates. In fact I had one made that way and I gave it to my Dad. You just buy the four corner attachments, cut the pipe to size and buy the hinges. It gets pretty pricey but I don't know if it would be cheaper than buying a premade gate. I am going to try to make it to Topeka today but if I get a chance I'll try to to take a couple pictures of our gates we made around here. I think you are going to have to do something custom for your different runs because they will probably be narrower than anything you can buy premade. The other option you might have, although it would be pricey is to make the far end solid fencing, then put a gate panel on one side of the pen and another gate panel for each run so you could walk from run to run. That could run into some $$ for sure. I plan to build my runs off the chicken trailer with wood and 2 X 4 wire with chicken wire over the outside perimeters. I am going to have a gate at each end so I can get into each individual pen. That means between the inside runs and the outside runs I will have a total of 20 gates to build. I saw one building a guy had that had just man sized walk through doors out to his runs rather than pop doors and no gates on his fences, but that doesn't give you the option to heat or cool any of it. I bought the lumber to build the inside gates but I suspect my DH has used it for other projects. He does that to a lot of the lumber I buy. But then he buys other lumber for some of my projects so I guess it comes out even other than having to make a trip to get some.

Tweety my brother in law has that same problem. He takes some meds that empty his stomach. He still has really nasty smelling burps though according to my sister but eats well. Heather I would suspect you had a flare of acid reflux. I had to quit taking aleve and abuprofen and anything similar cause it was eating my stomach. I had the same thing. I couldn't eat and I felt really full and bloated. Not to mention the nasty waking up in the night!! At any rate I got a prescription and rarely take it now since I quit taking anything but tylenol and my prescription meds.
You have all been so lucky with your rain. We got nothing but sprinkles and mist yesterday. Not even enough to dampen you. This morning we got some good rain for maybe 3 mintues and we've had sprinkling off and on. At least it is rain and I'm not complaining. Maybe accumulative we will get enough to matter. It is supposed to rain until tomorrow afternoon off and on so I have my hopes up. There's also a chance that hurricane will dump some rain mid week. Sure wish I had gotten my fall green beans planted now. They might have actually come up. I went out and pulled weeds and the rest of the dried plants night before last. My melons are kind of spread all over that end of the garden now so I guess if they produce at least the birds will eat.

I just got a phone call and have sold all of the young pullets I have left, any of the young hens I missed catching, and all of the red star brahma chicks I just hatched. I guess I will have to hatch some more chicks for my self. Not a problem. That just puts them a couple months behind. I think my downsizing has happened. She is supposed to come get them all tomorrow afternoon. My luck of course is that it will be raining very hard this evening when I am trying to catch birds!!! I am really worried now about how many eggs I am going to produce and if I can meet my eggs orders. I just have to keep in mind that I won't have so many to feed. She also said she'd buy any pullets I produce in the future.
Chickies Duckies, it actually depends on what version of windows you are using. But if you click on start, then click on control panel, then click on anything that says change resolution or font size or something similar you can change your resolution so everything is bigger. Or you can go to Tools at the top of your page, click options, go down to font and increase the size of your font. 12 is the normal but the higher the number the larger the font. Like I said there are different ways with different versions of windows and even what program you are running like IE or firefox or whatever. But that should get you started.

IT WORKED!!!!!!! THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU. And my eyes really thank you.

All of the talk about pens, etc thought I would mention for Danz or other geese owners, if you are not already aware - Geese have long necks!!!! Okay, now that sounded stupid. But they can and do weave those long necks through fencing and can die. Really stupid of them. 2 X 4 fencing works real well for a weaving projeck. I have rescued several that could not get loose. I lost one that was out far enough I didn't find her in time. It is heart breaking. Electric netting makes a good weaving project also. The electric was off, but she had been tangled long enough that it took a while to get her free and she could barely walk. She is ok now.

When you plan fencing for geese, remember long necks get into trouble.

tweety, I'm sorry you're having these problems with food & your stomach, that must be miserable. I hope it resolves soon & you're back to normal. Do they know what could have caused it?

Danz, yeah I imagine I will have to just make custom gates for all of my runs outside my breeder coop, I can't imagine being lucky enough to find the correct size of gate for those. I'm not so worried about making gates though, those are fairly simple I think to do or even doors, it's the dividers in the middle I'm not sure about yet. I don't know if I want to buy more panels or just try to put up posts & put fencing on. The big factor probably will be cost. We still haven't bought all the lumber yet or the roofing materials for this coop & I'm going to use the corrugated roofing for it that comes in sheets, not the thin plastic stuff, but the heavier kind that Lowe's has in several colors. That stuff should last for a very long time I think. I have some of that I got free from a friend that I have screwed onto the tops of my rabbit hutches & I really like it. You can also order clear panels for letting more light in & I think I'm going to get a couple of those because where the coop is it is pretty shady there. It will just give the chickens a little more natural light. We figured not including the clear panels it was going to cost about $200 just for the roofing. I don't think we bought the OSB for the roof yet either. There are always more things that come up as you go along that you forgot about too.

I went out last night to check on my chicks in the grow-out pen & they're all sneezing & everything now, not good. This just seemed to happen overnight that they got sick. This is where all of my Cream Legbars & Swedish Flower Hen chicks are, Salmon Favorelles, & young Ameraucanas. So I got out the Tylan, that's all I have on hand & got them started on it last night. I ordered some Denagard too just in case the Tylan doesn't take care of it. The stuff is not cheap, but then the Tylan isn't either, but I did already have that. At least they have the Tylan until the Denagard gets here. I sure hope they ship fast. I know it won't ship till Monday, but I paid for faster shipping, so it should be here by Weds. at least. I don't know if the change in weather has started this off after such a horrible hot summer or what. The poor birds immune systems probably have about had it after having to go through that heat like that. It's not even fall yet & they already getting sick, not good. So now I will have to watch the other birds that free-range to see if they all get it too. Their pens are aways away, but since they come around this pen all the time I figure they still could get it. Ugh, I hate it when birds get sick! Wish me luck that this Tylan kicks in fast. I'm kind of glad that I hadn't moved my peahens over to their new coop yet because it's close to the grow-out pen. Danz, are peacocks subject to the same diseases as chickens?

We got very little rain out of that little storm that came through so fast yesterday & none since. It rained just for a short few minutes & it was over, not enough to hardly look like it rained. We could sure use a drencher. All of the rain keeps going north of us, it's the pits. Hawkeye, send some down our way will you?

My DH was going to go run this morning, but went outside & it was steamy, so he opted to go out & work on the coop, yay! He said he had to do some cutting & then wants me to come help him stand up one of the long walls. I sure hope I can hold it up long enough for him to get it hooked on.

is the font just small on your browser or on the desktop, too?

If it is just small on your browser when you open it up, that is an easy fix. I somehow get mine clicked down tiny too. (I'm going to blame the kids) I use Google Chrome, and I mouse over to the far right corner up high and it has a "wrench" icon and I click on that and set the zoom back to 100-- or you can go higher and play with it. I haven't used other browsers in a while, but they have similar settings, you just have to find them on the bar-- usually right hand side next to the "bookmark" icon.

If your font is small on the computer-- on the desktop, etc. I found this:

To change the font size of your screen's display on a Mac, click on the Apple icon and select "System Preferences" (note: these directions are for Mac OS 10.7 or later). Within that tab, click on "Universal Preferences" and select "Seeing."
From there, find the Zoom section and select "On" to turn it on. The Mac will let you adjust the size to your liking, so after you've turned on zoom, just hold down on the Command and Alt keys before hitting the (+) key to start zooming in. Press the (+) as many times as you need until you can comfortably read the font. If you have made it too large, you can simply hit the (-) key to zoom out. Play around with the levels until you have reached the right font size for you.
But, if you're wearing your glasses and the font is still difficult to read, or the screen's images and graphics look blurry to you, go back to "System Preferences" and click on "Display." Try to adjust the resolution, lower the brightness or calibrate the screen colors, as any of these modifications could help you see the text on the screen better.

Trish Peafowl are susceptible to a lot more than chickens. But it is my understanding the first 90 days is when they are the most critical. As far as colds I've read you use the same medications as chickens. Again VETRX is a great choice if it is a virus without a secondary infection. I've read they should be wormed regularly more than anything. Mine haven't been wormed yet. I really need to do that since they don't have the big watering pan they stand in available right now. I couldn't imagine trying to dose them when I had a huge pan to stand in as well as a drinking water pan. I may just try the pumpkin seeds on them since I have a couple that are ready.
I would be freaking out if my expensive birds got colds.
At least if I sell my over run birds I might have some room in the brooder for some of these other birds. I would really like to empty the entire brooder house, hose it down, and let it soak in Oxine for a while. But I have some birds in there with no place to put them. I've got some young pheasants and I don't want to put them with the adults cause they might get picked on.
Chickies, Duckies did you get my PM? I had a change of plans for the day. Let me know if that is okay.
Josie if you happen to stop in I sent you a message of FB the other day. Not sure if you got it. I am sending you another one since Tim is probabIy home for discussion.

I'm 147 posts behind. I know I've missed way too much to catch up.

I got some kind of virus this last week that knocked me for a loop. It started coming on last Saturday night. I had a couple of days with 104 fever and my throat was sore, then the fever was much less but really hung on. Yesterday the sore throat finally went away and today I don't have any fever so far. It may have been West Nile but the only way to know for sure is with a blood test. Doc sees no real reason for that since treatment is the same as for any other flu ... nothing! DH never got it and he had to do all the mowing himself as well as try to make me eat and drink. I feel pretty good today, though I get tired more easily than usual.

We got a couple of inches of rain out of this, so yippee!
