Welcome 1idwillie Bruster the "cracken" is a good boy. I am glad you have him. Otherwise it was soup. We all are happy to have you! Lots of great info and fun here. Dog gone this snow it makes me cold just to look at it. I have already shut the birds in for the day.
Trunk is full of full feed bags, pantry is full of food, and the basement is stocked with logs for the wood stove! I would say let it snow but to be truthful I am already for spring!

I saw myABCs3 today and she's tired of waiting patiently for all of us to get together. I think the next meetup should be at Amy's Coffeehouse down on Mass street, and you should all throw in your time requests, because I'm not sure when to do it.

I am just raising my head after 3 weeks of intensive 15+ hour days writing like a fiend, so I'm not making any decisions! It's all you guys and I'll try my best to make it.

Miss you all!!

Let's not let Snow-mageddon stop us!

Hello fellow Kansas folks, I just now found this thread, lol! I see that alot of you are in the Lawrence area and I am as well. What are you all using for feed and why? I've been feeding Dumor pellets this winter just because of the price but TSC recently increased it. I fed Layena all last summer but am exploring my options for this year.

Welcome RaceCar,
Normally I feed a granuladed feed mixed with scratch grain. But the last place which was Midland junction north of Larence messed up my order and gave me pellets. NOW I LIKE THEM PELLETS. But Valley Feed in Bonner Springs is still two dollars cheaper.

I have found that mixing your feeds to be a benifital asset to your birds same as the mixing of your foods for your fish. By doing thing you add more energies as well as proteins and benifictail minerals to your flock. So in a way its hard for one to say your better to go one way or the other. IMHO. your better off to mix your feeds.
crumbles
pellets
scratch
grit
oyster shell

this way all your bases are covered. This is what I strive too do.
