Consolidated Kansas

I forgot, I do have a photo of the lavender Orp, here it is, it's not the greatest photo, but maybe you all can give me your opinions: pullet or roo?

Just for comparison, here is the other one that is getting huge, he wouldn't stand up for me, it was bedtime: This one I know is a roo.

Don't have time to answer right now. ^&%$*)()_*( I just figured out how the cat was getting wet! I would have preferred he had been in the toilet. I went to the basement to get a string of Christmas lights to put in one of the coops where I moved birds to today. Of all my lousy luck!!!!
My septic tank is backing up into the basement. It overflowed the toilet that is down there which doesn't even have the water turned on to it right now. So now I have to figure out if it is a block or the tank needs pumped!

Sorry. That is a nasty surprise. We have a lagoon, and we are running tap water all day, every day to get enough water in the thing to keep it from freezing this winter. I REALLY don't want a frozen outlet in the middle of a blizzard (not that it is ever going to precipitate again).

I just called the guy to pump it in the morning. That will cost me an arm and a leg. The last time this happened was the night before I had a spinal surgery. I spent half the night vacuuming up poopy water. Luckily this time it seems like mostly laundry water. Not much odor. I am going to spend my day tomorrow doing a fun job. I just can't do it tonight. I had too busy of a day. I would take a septic tank any day over a lagoon, but when they are full they are full. I should learn to schedule this once every two years just so this wouldn't ever happen again. I just hope it isn't a blockage that we have to snake out to get a good flow. I hate crap like this. And of course DH has to work so guess who gets to handle it all? I guess I can thank my stars we haven't go the basement finished yet.
Karen maybe you could get John to rig you and extension cord with multiple outlets, like one made for computers or something with lots of outlets. Then run shorter cords from that to each pen. You could either use cookie tin heaters or heated dog bowls. I have a multitude of stuff rigged like that. One thing I have is a multi plug surge protector inside a plastic bin. There is a hole for the wire to go through and then the plugs all plug in and go out another hole. It keeps it all protected from weather. Looks kind of ghetto but fits right in here.

I am just wishing I didn't have to many places to take water. I get tired of dragging hundreds of feet of hose around, and then having to drain it when I'm done so it doesn't freeze.

OH NO! That's the pitts! It's pretty bad when you're wishing your cat was playing in a toilet as the best alternative.

Geez Danz, I'm sorry, I hope it's a simple fix. I used to have a septic tank at my place in Derby & roots kept getting in the line from the trees out in the backyard, so finally I got permission from the county to put in a lagoon there. I barely had enough land to do it, but with special permission & the explanation about the problems with the septic tank they let me. They had to crush the old tank per the laws when the guy dug the lagoon. I thought that was kind of strange, but he said he was required to do it.

So since I'm in Wichita, and I'm new to the group i guess I'll start asking questions. Where is the best place to buy pullets, chicks and all natural feed in Wichita, or Kansas period? and whats the best breed of layers suited for Kansas Weather? I have been having a hard time locating 48 in x 50 ft. hardware cloth locally any suggestions...? None at Atwood's derby or andover and or tractor supply
