Consolidated Kansas

Wow.
I just had some pancakes and finally gave the walnut syrup a go........... Oh my God it was SO GOOD! I am still amazed at how sugary that stuff was. Sycamor tree sap is not that sugary, but walnut sure is..haha.
Does anyone else even have their spigots yet?

GL finding the girls you want. Only extras I've got at the moment are some ugly Brahma/Silkie pullets. Well, one cute, 1 eh, 2 ugly.

If your coop will be done this weekend and you find what you want at the swap, they can stay in cages in your garage for a couple days. Wouldn't be any different than being at a weekend swap or show.

We are about 2 weeks away from most feed stores having chicks in the store for sale. Since you want a few of each it might be cool to start with chicks. Start em out in a box with a light bulb, get the kids involved. Gives you time to build a coop. Chicks from a hatchery are often the best choice. If you order them, you often have to order 15 etc. But you can get them vacinated. I think feed store chicks are awesome they get them from a hatchery they are clean and disease free. Swap meets and auctions while they may be cool and a good deal can often be had; I question the potential for disease. Also many people are selling non producers or old birds. Just my thoughts on the egg chicken

So could one expect to see any game birds at the swap meet? I'v been to a truckload of swap meets, but always street rod or scooter oriented .... never barn yard avian. Bill

I'm not a huge fan of swaps, but only because they never seem to have the breeds I'm looking for and in the few cases they do, never in the quality I need. So for me they often end up a loss of time and gas money. There are 2 exceptions for me, Yates Center for supplies and general poultry stuff, rarely birds though. I've seen nice birds there, but not the breeds I need. And the POOPS swap in OK. I

POOPS.

For the breeds weazel wants, they should be readily available as sexed pullet chicks from lots of feed stores here within the next few weeks like Mike said. At least they're commonly carried in our neck of the woods.
