Consolidated Kansas

The soil here is still dry, it's been 6 days since the last rainfall! To hard to plant... it's a curse!

Welcome to the new people, I can't keep up today, so I won't try to answer everybody. bastin, welcome, glad you stopped by to visit, wow on the snakes gosh I would have a heart attack if I ran into those in my coop.

It's awful here today, very cold & wet. It's been miserable to go out & do chores & I have to go out there soon again, brrrrr! I feel sorry for all creatures out there today. My poor GPs were so wet & muddy this morning, they just refuse to get in anywhere even though they have places they could get in. They just want to be out in the open so they can watch everything I guess. My chickens did come out today, I was kind of surprised they even wanted to. I'm glad we're not getting what you got up there Lizzy, it's bad enough here.

Frizzled, here is a pic of my Swedish Flower Hens, don't look at the dirty water pan in the background, it got changed right after I took this photo. The gray & white girl on the bottom left is kind of washed out in this pic, she is a bit darker than that.

The hens are all looking like they should be all laying now, but so far only the black & white one has been.

I'm back from my short trip back to texas. The weather was beautiful in the 70's and so green loved it. Then on my way home my husband text me to say we have snow coming

I am loving looking at everyone's babies and full grown flock pictures. I have now decided I want to find some white silkie bantams, silver lace polish and white sultans. I really don't like that so many web sites make you order so many... If anyone in Kansas has any of these to part with, let me know. I am off to post ISO's. :)

I believe you have it mastered

Welcome!

There are only a few varieties of snake that will eat eggs - most won't touch them. I don't know if Bull Snakes are among those that do.
Hi folks! Can I join? I'm right next to Emdale!
Welcome! I live fairly close to your area. Over between Burlington and Waverly. Join in.
Ohh i only meant to agree with you!

Someone mentioned they could not garden because of bad back....I think it was Danz?

Have you ever looked at straw bale gardening?
I haven't heard of that. I do garden I just can't maintain like pulling weeds and such. It's the bending that gets me. I can bend all right, just can't stand back up if I do. Too many back surgeries. I'll check that straw bale gardening out. I was thinking more of flower gardening because that is what I really really miss. I don't care if I have a few weeds in the veggies.

Just sold my last pair of silver laced polish. Of all the polish they are my favorite.

Well I spent most of my day... not intending to finishing my granddaughter's princess dress. I had planned to do this since December and got tired of stuff sitting out. Of course things didn't go as planned and it took me a lot longer than I ever would have thought. Maybe if I took more time and got it right the first time I wouldn't have to spend so much time ripping out and redoing things.
Also the next time I do a project like that I am going to use different fabric. Not stuff that shreds as soon as you cut it and that is slimy and slick. I've had enough of that! And then I'm thinking the first time it is washed it will probably fall apart anyway.
I need to get it packaged up and mailed now before she outgrows it.
I didn't spend my normal hours out feeding. That weather was just brutal. I did what I needed to and the birds will have to get along until tomorrow afternoon.
At least with all the moisture no one will thirst to death.
Then I had to come in and clean bins and cages for all these critters I have in the house because of the crummy weather. I don't think I'll ever get rid of the dust or smells.

Frizzle I meant to mention your chicks as well. They are really pretty. How are the orpingtons doing?
Thanks Danz, I haven't taken the plunge yet on the ones i was asking your advice about, but i think that will be coming soon. Our orpingtons are doing great. We have a "little" (yes joking) roo named Godzilla, who will be our up and coming, but we seem to be a little boy heavy--story of my life.
