No you want to keep essential oils away from extreem heat or cold you can keep it in a dark place what is going to go bad in the mix is the almond oil essential oils are not going to go bad as long as you keep them out of extreem temps and light what you can do is reduce the whole recipeand use exactly 25% of every thing listed that should make it where you use it faster than it goes bad i have a tea sppon to drop converter if you need the equevelents .. Essential oils are super extreemly concentrated some times hundreds of pounds of plant material to make a small bottle of oil that is why they are pricy thats also why you can use just a few drops for it to be effective

Thanks. I'd love to know the equivalents because if I make a smaller batch, I'll never figure out how to do anything less than 1/8 teaspoon!

We got 3 1/4" last night following 2+ inches in the 24 hours preceding that. It is a muddy mess everywhere and I am so done with RAIN. The last two years I couldn't imagine saying that. We have a couple of dry days (though it looks pretty threatening outside right now) before more storms Thursday night. I'm so sick of hearing the sump pumps (we have 2) kicking on and off. The ducks are happy though.

I went blackberry picking this morning and they have also been adversely affected by the rain. So much fruit is just rotting on the bushes. My tomatoes are all splitting too.

I haven't been out to look at my tomatoes in the last couple of days because my garden is across town, but I've been worried about them splitting or rotting. My aunt says her tomatoes at home are splitting. It rained all day yesterday and the night before. There's no rain in today's forecast, but it sure is dreary out. I'm also certain it was misting a little while ago. Who knew we'd complain about too much in JULY!?

I would be happy to teach you danz give me a 1 day and you can learn the bulk of mixing most bath/body producs then its all what you like to add for scent i only use essential oils i dont use chemical fragrance oils but alot of people do and like that .. When people have a reaction (allergic or skin) to something it is 90% of the time to dyes , chemical additives, chemical fragrance oils. so in my opinion it makes a huge differance in product to not use any of thoes that being said its really a matter of personal preferance what you make for your family

I went out to the back to check on my ton of green tomatoes and ran back in when I saw the amount of HUGE mosquito's that where hanging out! Good luck with yours!

We have plenty of rain here as well. Almost 6 inches in the last two days and now instead of working on the chicken yard and a new pen for the waterfowl we will be cleaning up from the little flood. DH's old cabin got about 3 inches in it yesterday and the raging water carried things off the porch and from behind the shed downstream for quite a ways. It is amazing what water can do. The only good thing is that our new pond is finally full, but the duck and geese still won't stay in it. And the electricity was off for about 4 hours, hope the eggs in the incubator are still good. We will candle them tonight.

Someone asked me to convert a reciept so here is the original.
..8 oz almond oil
....1/4 teaspoon lemon eucalyptus essential oil
.....1/8 teaspoon geranium essential oil
..... 1/8 teaspoon true lavender essential oil

This can be halved by using drops instead of ts for conversion there are 76 drops per teaspoon some oils take longer than others to drop be patient...

4 oz almond oil

(i would add a teaspoon of vitiman e oil here also for shelf life) or 3 gel caps squeezed out

10 drops of lemon euculaptis essential oil
5 drops of geranium essential oil ( i would bump this to 10)
5 drops of lavender essential oil ( i would also bump to 10)
Also if you added a litte vodka 1/2 oz it will absorb into the skin better than straight oil mix

Several weeks ago I caught a mouse in our workshop, in one of the live Victor traps I got from you, Danz, and carried it carefully in to feed to a snake. There were two in the trap that day. One became snake food....the other escaped into the house! I've had traps set up all over ever since and had multiple sightings but couldn't catch it. I just heard noise coming from the location of one of the traps and voila! Finally. But - what to do with it now? Try again to feed it to a snake? Not indoors. I thought I might try feeding it to a snake outdoors but then DH suggested offering it to the birds. I carried the trap down to the middle of the chicken yard - far from the coop and grain bin, and of course all the birds followed me since I am the treat lady. Then I set the trap on the ground, opened it, and the birds peered in. The mouse jumped out and started to run. The turkey whose feet it ran over first recoiled in horror, but a chicken went after it and long story short, that mouse won't be bothering us again. I did feel a little sorry for it but it didn't suffer for too long. The interesting thing is that the bird that got it is not much more than a chick - only 3 months old. It wasn't a huge mouse but it was a huge meal for that little bird and she was determined to keep it for herself. The chase was on but eventually she found a quiet place to put down her prize and eat it in peace. And, multiple birds just learned the lesson that "mice are food" - a lesson I hope they remember the next time a mouse tries to steal their food LOL.

I love it. I caught 2 mice at once in one of those traps last summer and offered them to our dachshund. He got one immediately, but I had to step on the other one to stun it so he could finish it off. I didn't even think about giving it to the chickens. Next time. Mice are food. Gotta remember that.

I used to feed all of the mice I got to the chickens. I am lazy about setting the traps cause it seems they are endless. I run water in the holes and call the chickens and they grab the mice as they run out. It's great entertainment. I also look under rock and anything laying in the yard for mice nests. When I find the little pink ones I just pick them up and carry them to one of the pens. Those baby mice are awesome treats. I would never tell my previous egg customers that I fed my chicken mice cause I'd be afraid they'd find that as gross. But I figure it is meat and protein that they can't get from the grasses and grains.
I went out and pulled weeds for a couple hours because I was still waiting for the phone to ring. My call didn't come in. This is getting old. I don't like being tied down to a phone. Anyway I am drenched from one end to the other. It is so humid out there! We didn't get as much rain as most. Maybe an inch and a half total. But it was enough to make it muddy out where I have no grass. I could still spend several hours pulling weeds. Until the ground finally got wet I couldn't budge them. Maybe I can get them cleared enough that whatever blooms later will be visable. I lost so many flowers in the last couple years I have no idea what is even left. I certainly can't afford to replace it either. I have tons of old seeds I collected over the years though if I ever had energy to get them planted.
This baby bird that was rescued from the fallen nest is doing quite well. In fact it won't shut up. It has been eating gruel I made up for him but it wants to be hand fed water.
I think I may have all of my lemon cuckoo babies sold. The people are supposed to get them on Thursday morning. I hope they decide to show up. I don't like holding things like that cause I've had too many people just fail to show.

Gosh... 6 inches of rain in a couple of days?!? I think we've barely gotten that much this year! On a positive note, we just got 0.60" of much needed rain. The problem comes in that it all came in one giant downpour that lasted all of 15 or 20 minutes.

I think it's hilarious to watch chickens with a mouse. My cats caught one awhile back & the chickens took it away & they chased each other all over for that darned mouse, but finally they ate it all. Mice just have no chance here with all the outside cats we have here & chickens & guineas. The dogs catch moles too.

Danz, I just put the lady's SFH eggs in the incubator yesterday with extras to make sure she gets enough. Then I have another person wanting some too, so now I started collecting again for them. I just thought I was done hatching evidently.

I just got back from Wichita & need to get out & feed & then I have some people coming to pick up a couple of pullets I have I'm selling them. I'll probably look a mess by the time they get here. It's so muddy out there from so much rain all at once. I get muddy every time I go out there & it's so darned humid I come in just soaked too. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow because I really need to get this hoop coop finished so I can move the turkeys in there by the end of the week. Then I can start working on the present turkey pen to get it in shape to move the chicks in there from the hoop coop. It's just so muddy in there right now I sink every time I go in the door. It would be nice for things to just be able to dry out for a little while before we get more rain. It has looked like rain all day, but hasn't done anything. We sure don't need it right now. I didn't think I would say that either after the last two years, but enough of the rain for now. I'm really tired of slogging through the mud everywhere & the chickens in some pens are standing in it because nothing has had a chance to soak in or dry out any.
