Consolidated Kansas

Cleansquared I am another one who is interested in eggs. I emailed them last night to ask about the availability but have not heard back from them yet. I will let you all know what they say if they reply.

Do let us know what you find out. There are some eggs I would like to have from there if I knew prices.
Happy new years everyone. I hope everyone had a good Christmas we had a good one. My dh is still battling brain cancer he is still doing chemo and is trying a new treatment called novottf he has an MRI on Jan 6 and we get results on the 10 I pray that this treatment works. My flock is doing good no more eggs

so I had to buy from store. Take care
I'm glad you had a good Christmas, sending prayers to your & your DH that the new treatment works for him.

22Qzoo those aren't my colors for sure. That's just what the girls bought for me. They just bought for the chickens I am sure. I'm sure it was an accident that they all matched. I have a dark purple accent wall for the kitchen and dining room. Some black and tan with white cabinets. I prefer natural wood but actually rebuilt the old cabinets that were originally in here and had to paint them to make them look okay. I am too messy for white cabinets but they hold the dishes!
I'm not a real pulled together person. I tend to get things because I like them....not because they necessarily match anyway. I would like to be, but my budget dictates otherwise.
Maybe in the next life!!!

I'd also like to be able to hire a cleaning lady but that won't happen either.
It's so gloomy out today. It's also still very cold out. I wish it would warm up quickly so I can get the animals taken care of without freezing. I've got a load of feed to get today as well. This weather depresses me. Come on spring!!!
That's interesting that the colors all matched like that, maybe you're supposed to change your kitchen, ha. I do like to pick a theme for a room & then go with that, I have always done that. I'm going to be painting our cabinets in the kitchen when I get the time. I like wood cabinets, but these are just getting worn out & sad looking, they need an update. We have quite a few things in this house that need an update now. If we ever decide to sell it ours would be one of those that people look at & say it's outdated. Not much has been done to it since we got it from the people who built it other than a few wall colors changed. The bathrooms & kitchen need updates for sure.

I went out to let my laying flock out earlier & it was still pretty darned cold out there, I hope it warms up soon. I took some kitchen scraps out to the birds this morning & they were having fun picking through those. I need it to be a bit warmer so I can get a few things done I need to do.

Please let us know what they say. Thanks!
Will do! I haven't heard back from them yet though

Ok, you asked for it so here are my chicken gifts. First is a pitcher.

This next one was technically a gift to DH but we all knew I would commandeer it. It is a book holder, and will be great for holding up recipe books.

Next is a set of 4 boxes that nest inside each other like Russian dolls.

And this trinket was inside the smallest box. It is a weather vane ornament.

Oh goodness, in the time I was uploading pictures there were several new posts, and I had meant to comment to Michelleml as well, that I hope your DH does better on the new treatment. I can only imagine the strain and worry of dealing with brain cancer. <<hugs>>

Trish, yes, I am curious how much hatching eggs go for as well. I fear it will be more than I am willing to spend, but it is nice to dream….

I pray for his recovery. It has been a long tough road for you guys.
HEChicken love the items...especially the pitcher.
I used to try to make things match. But my whole theme got uprooted when I bought a couch. I hate the fabric, but love the couch. So slowly I've been trying to switch over colors. I have a chair to re-upholster yet, and a love seat to finish. When the upholstery wears out on the couch I'll do it in much more muted colors. I prefer plain colors with patterned accents rather than the opposite. I'm just stuck with this for a while. I probably would have been ahead to immediately upholster the couch but how many people buy a new piece of furniture and immediately change it? It was all about quality and style rather than what it was covered in. I do have very expensive taste and a very low budget to work within.
I guess I could be working on these projects while it is so cold out but I lack energy to do much of anything when it's cold.
Speaking of which I should get out and get busy feeding. I was hoping we'd break freezing by now but it's a long ways from it.

I finally got the battery back in my camera. Here is the dish I got from one DIL and the towels I got from another one. It's hard to judge size in the picture. The dish is a good size. It would be great for serving cookies or something on.
HEChicken where's your pictures?
My son who lives in Manhattan just called. They have been having power surges and outages the last several days. His refrigerator has quit. Unfortunately he has a high deductible on his home owners insurance. They just bought this 2 years ago and it will be a week from Tuesday before the service person will be out. What rotten luck!

Cute, especially the plate. I'll have to get a picture of the deviled egg dish my aunt gave me for my birthday.

It sounds like your friend wasn't roasting the beans long enough.

That's what I was thinking. The funny thing about coffee is that the darker the roast, the lower the caffeine content, even though it just feels like it should be the opposite. We buy a french roast bean and mix it with a bit of a medium roast bean for a little extra caffeine in the morning.

We had a few hours with my DH's mom when we went to Missouri the other day & she is going to be 92 next month & has Alzheimer's. She has done fairly well until recently & she is now having a hard time remembering her children's names & connecting them to the person. She is very disconnected now & is getting more & more into her own little world. She is happy though & still fairly cooperative most of the time. It's just hard for them all to see her going downhill so much now. She was diagnosed several years ago & they started her on the medication right away & that has delayed this stage for a long time, so they have been lucky.

Alzheimer's is tough; it's particularly hard to see someone you've loved your whole life go downhill and not be able to recognize the people she loves.

My entire house is done in the same general theme/colors, but some rooms have their own thing going on, too. The kitchen has some ivy and herb stuff, and the chicken stuff. The downstairs bathroom has some sunflowers. There's green everywhere because it's my favorite color. In general, I have all autumn type colors, and when we moved in, we saw all this natural woodwork and wanted the house to have an outdoors feel. So there are lots of leaves and animals and woods. The upstairs bathroom is a little odd, though, because it has shells all over and a lot of my milk glass stuff is in there.

Those gifts you got HEChicken are adorable, I really like the boxes, I have a thing for boxes & I love the little ornament too.

Yes, the eggs may be cost prohibitive for me as well, but I would still like to know. They may not even have any available this time of year either. I did go ahead & email them also so we'll see who gets an answer first.

It sure hasn't warmed up here as fast as I would have liked, it's about 31 here now, not that different than when I first looked. I wish it would get above freezing, but I don't know if it's going to make it today. Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer.

I got all the birds fed and watered and got my load of feed shoveled off into the barrels, so I am tired.
The sun did come out for awhile and although it was cold it felt good. I really needed the sun even though it didn't last long. My DIL gave me some wool socks. I can't stand wool on my skin but I pulled on a pair over my regular socks. I have to say my feet stayed toasty warm. Normally they're warm but my toes get cold.
I feel like I had a major workout. I think I needed that. I almost feel human again. Now I need some energy to get busy on projects in the house. Maybe tomorrow!
The eggs I picked up were all frozen. I guess I'll start again tomorrow and see if I can find some fresh ones.
