Consolidated Kansas

I have managed to influence a friend of mine to want chickens. She is finishing up her coop, and wants to go chicken shopping. She is interested in these breeds; Delaware, Java, New Hampshire red, plymouth rock, star, sussex and auracana/EE.

Anyone remotely close to the Cleveland, Mo area have some hens of these breeds available? She's only wanting to buy 4 hens. Thanks!

My broody girl took the babies I gave her last night. It is so cute to watch them with her.

She lets me come up and watch and pet the chicks but if the kids, other birds or the dogs come up she clucks and lifts her wings so the babies can burrow under her. I'm surprised she lets me around them. Now I'm a nervous wreck hoping that nothing happens to them. I will never brood in the house again. Does anyone know when would be a good time to integrate 5 8-9 week olds with my four girls? The teenagers have been outside for about 2 weeks now and are getting bigger but are still quite a bit smaller than the full grown girls.
