Consolidated Kansas

Ahhh let me see. There are two TSC's - one east and one west, both on Kellogg. There is CW Feed that is practically downtown (Just north of Mosley & Murdock on Mosley). They don't sell Purina products but have a variety of other options. There is Prairieland, way out in Andover (east Kellogg). I'm drawing a blank now on others - will let you know when they pop back into my little pea brain.

Great I am leaving at 9:30 so you got some time. I think I might check out prairieland I have TSC here and maybe check cw feed I can only get country lane and Purina here so I am looking at different options. since i do go to Wichita once every other month.

I really like Prairieland. They only sell Purina for chickens though, and their prices are comparable to TSC. They do have a feed sale on the 4th Saturday of every month, when all feed is 10% off, so if one of your visits coincides, that can save you a few pennies. They also have a card system where they mark down what you buy and every 12th bag is free.

CW Feed is fun. They sell feed from a mill in Belle Plaine, as well as Mazuri, I think.

There is also hillside feed and seed on hillside, valley feed and seed on S Meridian, Atwoods in Derby, Gilpins on E Kellogg, Mitchells on Mosely and 21st N, and there is Woodard Mercantile in Maize on Maize Rd. That is all I can think of at the moment.

Chisholm Trail feed store right south of Newton by the outlet Mall is a good store.....Purina may be the only brand they sell...I'm not sure. Mike the guy who owns/runs it is a nice guy.

Thanks for that! I knew there were others I was forgetting. I find Valley Feed and Seed kind of high in price but friendly service. Hillside Feed is bigger and I always enjoy my visits there. Gilpin sadly went out of business. He was an older guy running it and he sent in his sales tax by check. End of last year the dept of Revenue told him they will no longer accept checks starting 2011 and he would have to submit electronically. Well, for an 80-something man who has never used a computer, having to install one, and learn to use it was more than he was willing to bite off so he just closed the place down. The property has already been sold.....

Atwoods also now has a location in Andover. If you are going to Prairieland, you can't miss the Atwoods which is catty-corner to Prairieland. Be warned though - they currently have chicks, duckling, goslings, turkeys, guineas......

Wow. That is sad. I didn't know that about Gilpin's. I hadn't been in there in a few years. I usually go to Valley feed because it is close to the house. I am willing to pay the extra buck for the convenience of not having to drive across town. I'm going to have to check out the Atwoods in Andover. I need to get a couple chicks to put under my broody anyway. Not that I need anymore chicks.
