Consolidated Kansas

Thanks. She was making no noise a few minutes ago and her nasal passages were dry, but I think I'll still do something. We don't mind giving shots (and by we, I mean DH!).

Cherwill, maybe try some VetRx to open up her breathing apparatus? It's like Vicks for poultry.

Michellemi, you could try contacting Heartland Community Healthcare Center in Lawrence, as they used to be a faith-based clinic that had churches collecting things from their congregations to redistribute to folks who needed them. There's also a non-profit called Eckan than has donated medical stuff.

I know years ago they even changed the law to allow unused medical supplies (like cancer meds) to go to a different patient if the chain of possession was in medical hands (like from a caregiver nurse to another medical office, then to the new patient with valid prescription) so perhaps check on any community clinics to see if they have a donated meds program. In Topeka there's a Catholic community clinic that may have an idea of how to get stuff.

We dosed her up with VetRx. She wasn't thrilled, but she didn't fight too hard. She was walking around and eating; she doesn't seem to feel bad. She did have gunk under her nasal passages, though.

It sounds like she's getting something. If the VetRx doesn't seem to help that much then you probably need to go ahead & give her the Tylan & I have been having the best luck with the injections. That way you know for sure how much the bird got of the medication.

It sure was a nice day today, I wish I had felt like being out there more, but this was a bad day for me with my leg. It's still really hurting where the fracture is, so I can't stay on it too long without really suffering the consequences.

Lizzy, what a little cutie!
Thank you!!! I completely agree!

Lizzy thanks so much for the pictures. He sure has a nice head of hair. I just can't wipe the smile off my face. I think I was born to want to snuggle babies!!!
You are more than welcome. It is so much fun to snuggle him! I wish you were closer... I haven't met you in person, but I think you'd make a great "adopted" grandmother. :)

I stepped outside to do chores this morning, and my first thought was "gosh, it feels kinda like spring!". It turned out to be a gorgeous day today! The wind picked up about mid-day, but it died back down by late afternoon. I walked out to get the mail and bring the horses down from the pasture, and I had Wee One with me. I had my coat unzipped, and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy watching the trees and stuff as I walked past them. He was cooing, smiling, and making all sorts of happy baby noises. That is unusual because he usually sleeps when I have him in the Moby wrap (baby carrier).

I have a silly bird story for ya'll today. The other day, there was snow on the ground. I"m not sure if one of the birds slipped on the ramp and caused it to fall down or what, but my gander, Lucy (long story on the name) was still in the duck house and the rest of the birds were sitting underneath it where the straw was not covered in snow. Lucy was in the duck house screaming his head off. He couldn't see the other birds, and he was the only one left in the duck house. Apparently, he didn't think he could jump out, even though the floor of the duck house is only two feet off the ground. Silly bird apparently forgot he has wings.

I went out and put the ramp back up so he'd be quiet.

I'd really love to try. I had 5 kids of my own but I was a working single mom most of my adult life. I never had much of an opportunity to just stay home and take care of my babies. And when you get older you really miss having the kids around. My granddaughters aren't close enough I can just drop by or visa versa. I never get to babysit or anything.

Oh poor me!!!
I managed to really smash a couple fingers earlier and now they really hurt. I swear I am the biggest klutz ever. It's a wonder I don't hurt myself just getting dressed.

Danz, I'm sorry about your fingers, I hope you iced them after you did that. I seem to smash my big toe on my right foot at regular intervals for some reason. I tend to drop things on it, I'm a klutz too.

If only you weren't like clear across the state... :)

My mother-in-law and I joke that we're too closely related because we are both klutzy and usually in the same way (we trip over similar things and tend to do similar dumb stuff). I'm always telling my husband "you shouldn't leave <x> here because I'll hurt myself on it somehow". Maybe you, me and Trish44 should start a klutz klub. lol
