So far GQ has 3 daughters and 1 son. GQ has 16 more eggs here and I am wondering if they are going to hatch.

Well if they dont hatch you will just have to stop and get more. I want you to have a good hatch even if it takes several tries.

I just may do that.

darn the fox just took one of my girls from inside the pen. darn me for not being better prepaired. I knew he was out there yesterday when I was gardening. The girls went wild. I should have shored up all holes and or loose bottom wire. I did do a walk through and saw no real loose bottom wire. Still I should have done more. Now I am a hen less. Fence is tight now but only so tight that a fox with some of the foxyness of a fox could come back. Blessings only one hen and I saw the little $##@@**&%$(bounceing limp body of the hen across the back garden) take her. Chased him through the neighbors yard and more. Used the bottle rocket launcher and will for the next few days. (launches bottle rockets just above the chicken pen) Guess they stay locked in as I work all this weekend. Grumble grumble grumble; too busy making a wounded cuccumber call for deer to realize I should be making a wounded hen call for foxes!,

I just candled duck eggs from an abandoned swedish blue nest (the hen got so freaked out during the storm before last she left the nest!). Turns out I've got 15 ducklings on the way!!! So very delighted

I had been planning to set swedish blue eggs this weekend but now they're up on a 24-hour auction instead.

Swedish Blues and Cayugas free ranging last summer....

Well after a long hard battle, Mohawk finally succumbed. I worked yesterday and didnt fix his scrambled eggs. BIG mistake. I knew he wasnt eating enuff. Was cleaning up after dinner and heard him start honking and thrashing in the living room.

I went to hold him in my arms and he gave his last breath. He was just finally up and walking around yesterday morning, after leg paralysis for 10 days.

And Cherokee, he had been so glad when I let them sun, he stayed with him all day and let him rest his poor lil head on his back. Oh golly I am beating myself up for being tired and not sucking it up and cooking some eggs for him. He was so so depleted.

Now I am mad at my dog for making him so stressed to begin with! And I am heartsore. Had that silly pea and his bro in the house all winter since he was a late fall hatch.

Well, we are no long able to afford this place most likely will be coming back home. Wished it was further south. If anyone knows of any cheap CHEAP acreages in the Belleville/Courtland area, let me know. I sure hate to give up all my critters but not much holding us here and lotsa friends in Kansas, none here.

How is your guys weather? My animals went absolutely nuts last night, must have sensed the tornado to the south. We got rain, then big big old snowflakes, gorgeous, now its back to light snow and muck. Gotta go care for critters and unhook hoses, supposed to drop tonite.

Hope all your plants do ok that anyone has/have planted. Mike, you better cover those okra if it calls for freezing down your way!

Congrats on the developing duckies, Sparky. Take care all.

Wow- so sorry to hear about everything, but perhaps you'll find a place where you can keep your critters? I will be praying for that!
