We got a bunch of rain up here, close to two inches judging by all the water I had to dump out of feed buckets. Sure does make a difference with the grass, duck was having a great time out there today.

Holy cow was it windy last night. I had the windows opened upstairs in my bed room and I thought a train came roaring into the room!
Hechicken, so the light brown ones were the NH chicks? They are just too cute! I guess the tutors did a great job with the turkey poults!
Sharol, I tend to worry a lot myself. This is the reason why I haven't had a good night sleep since I have kids. Glad Copper and her chicks are doing well.
Danz, just saw your new chicken house. You are definitely quite a handy woman! I have the ideas but for the life of me can't put that idea into a project. Sounds like you are busy hatching chicks this Spring.
Sunflower, that is just too funny with fainting goat.
Michelle, glad you have the mites under control. They sure are nasty.
Friendshipstar, welcome. Sounds like you are hatching quite a few chicks. Congrats on almost 100% hatch rate. Black copper maran is on my wish list.
We didn't get that much rain at all. Just enough to wet the top layer of dirt and that was it. This is the 2nd time we got teased in a week when it cones to rain. Apparently we have higher chance of getting more rain this weekend but this time, they are forecasting large hails to go with it. Sigh... we will see what happens.
Have a great evening everyone.
Friendship Star ,
Welcome , Always nice to know close chicken enthusiast's are close by. I live in HV CO![]()

Friendshipstar, welcome, I live in Cowley County, so not too far away.
We had a lot of wind here last night, but we didn't get any rain. We sure could use some, but it has only sprinkled any time something came through, not enough to even wet the dirt hardly.
tweety, I'm glad your work load has decreased & you're able to stop in here more often.
I had quite an evening, I drove for two hours to pick up my new little ram lamb & got him in the crate in the car & he bleated at the top of his voice the whole way back. I won't be getting the two little ewes for about 4 more weeks, they're not weaned yet. Anyway, I got the little guy home & put him in the pen with the two doe goats & they immediately started chasing him around the pen & trying to butt him. I was trying to get them to stop & leave him alone but they were having none of it. I'm going to get him put some place else for the night as soon as my DH gets home from work & can help me. He's not used to being handled, so he's pretty skittish. This is his first time to be away from his momma too, so he's scared. They're all going to have to learn to get along eventually because they will be sharing a field for grazing. Hopefully the goats will settle down once they see he is staying.
Welcome Marlowesmamma. I'm not from Overland Park...an hour or so from there, but there are a few people near you who post now and then. Tell us about yourself and join in.
Trish and and HEChicken are going to have to buy more land if you keep buying livestock. I do wish my pasture was all re-fenced so I could add a few more animals. Not going to happen on my budget though.
Things are a whirlwind in my life right now. My parent's house sold and we close the 21st on it. Then my son put his house on the market on Tuesday and it sold on Wednesday. They close the 22nd. My brother just moved to Kansas from North Carolina for a new job so we are trying to get him settled for now. They have two homes in N.C.and one of those is going on the market.
Lots of hatching and I hope lots of selling going on here right now.
I hatched my first red golden pheasant of the year this morning. I don't have any more due for at least a week so this little guy will have to live with the turkeys for a while.
I've got to get out and get some more birds moved around today. I have to do a bit more work on a little coop my DH built and move a color in that pen. Someday it would sure be nice to actually be organized!
Tweety it's so good to see you posting again. Since my son and my brother are going to be living down that direction I hope to make more visits soon. You can build if you want. It really is simple. Of course having power tools makes all the difference in the world. The reason I posted framing pictures with the other pictures of that little coop was to give an idea of how I built it. I really like the design I think. I want to eventually paint the metal roof green to give it a "cabin" look. But that will have to wait until I have more time.
When my DH got home last night we got the little lamb into the crate I brought him home in & left him there for the night. The goats could see him, but he was safe. I'm sure the poor little guy was traumatized because he was away from his momma & herd & then got attacked by some big mean goats. They're going to have to get used to each other, I hope the goats realize he is staying soon & leave him alone. He is in the goat pen now & the goats are out browsing in the yard. When we get the fence up in the field they will have a bigger area to graze & be safe.Hello Trish44.
Did you get your little lamb moved somewhere less hostile? He will be thinking "these women are crazy as a pet goat."![]()
