Ok, found the link: http://empirenews.net/meteorologist...ming-soon-bread-milk-prices-expected-to-soar/

I'll admit I've never heard of Empire News so don't know how credible they are. If this were posted on the Farmer's Almanac site I'd be at the store buying bread right now…..

I never used to pay much attention to long-range forecasts as I am the ultimate skeptic but in recent years the Farmer's Almanac has been righter than it has been wronger so I'm starting to pay it more heed.

And in a complete non-sequiter, I have a question for everyone regarding Black Sexlinks. Okay, so at hatch, chicks are sexable because the females are solid black while the males have a white spot on their heads - I get that. The problem is that Barred Rocks at hatch also are black with a white spot on their heads. I am hatching BSL's and BR's at the moment because I know the eggs were laid by BR's but the possible roosters who fertilized the eggs are BR and NH. The little pullet that hatched I know is a BSL because she is solid black. The other three are all black with white spots so I have no idea if they are BR's (in which case could be pullets or cockerels) or BSL cockerels. However I did notice that two of them have white wing tips while the third is solid black except for the white spot on its head. So it occurred to me this *might* be a further clue as to whether they are pure BR or BSL cockerels. Does anyone know? Anyone observed this? I am off to do some google research as well but just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else has bred a lot of both BR and BSL and has observed the difference.

Well, research is inconclusive. I can't find anyone with the same combo as I am doing, to verify if the white wing tips indicate one or the other. Besides most links took me to sex-links produced by hatcheries from hatchery-quality birds so anything goes. I guess I will be the guinea pig and monitor these chicks as they grow and see for myself if it is just coincidence or if the presence or absence of white wing tips is indicative of their origin. It would be great to be able to differentiate the BSL cockerels at hatch.

I went to their home page. Empire News is a satire site. http://empirenews.net/about-disclaimer/ is their explantion.

Edited to add: Thank goodness.
Good to know! I guess I should have done due diligence before panicking

I had seen another report on FB that had said that same thing but then started seeing things to refute it so I hope it's all wrong & we're not all going to be buried in snow. It was back in the early 70s when I saw the biggest snowstorm I had ever seen. I lived in Wichita, still at home with my parents & we had so much snow it literally closed the city of Wichita. Our house faced north & I remember the snow being piled up over the front door all the way to the roof. Nobody could get anywhere unless they had a vehicle that could make it through that & that was few people back then. It was a mess for days.

Research is kind of my thing, here is what I found.

The bottom line is that yes our weather is changing drastically, and yes we could be in for a harsh winter. Yes chances of Ell Nino affecting our weather have dropped, from 75% to 60%. Stocking up and being prepared is always a good idea. I think the pampered days of us relying on the grocery store are numbered.
