Kskingbee, I know part of the trouble with your ad. I can't find your ad when I do a search. Probably write in the ad itself peahen instead of hen, peacock instead of cock, etc. then when someone does a search for peacock specifically your ad will come up. I entered peacock, peafowl, peahen and it wouldn't show me your ad. :(
And the title, I guess since you have all three written it's not showing for searches! Stupid craigslist. I know I have been doing searches every night just to see what's out there and your ad doesn't show.
Hope that helps!

Hello to all out there!

Danz,
Congrats on the sales and your gates!!

I forgot you have barred rocks!! I have been wanting to add those and silver laced wyandottes to my flock. I need to pattern to go with the colors out there.

Everytime I go to my local farm store and they have chicks I think about it but IDK if I want to get any from there. Not sure if I will be adding them anytime soon now or not though.
My DH is in panic mode. The test batch of 20 eggs I set before the actual Easter HAL appears to be doing VERY well! For the HAL I set 33 at noon on SAT. We candled the test batch SAT nite and 16 out of 20 I could see that they were alive and developing. The other 4 I couln't see through the shell well enough. 3 are EE and one is just a dark brown egg so I need a stronger light to penetrate those shells.
I keep telling him we don't count our chickens before they hatch be he only sees he big number.

I can't help but laugh at him, after all this was HIS idea!!

Yep I never assume I am going to have as many chicks as I have developing. There are so many variables. Sometimes I get 100% hatch, sometimes I loose chicks that die for some unknown reason during development. That is especially true with things like my Araucanas who have a deadly gene. Some make it all the way to hatch day and die in the shell. I try to prevent the gene by selectively breeding tufted to non-tufted but sometimes tufts are there and just don't grow out.

Hello to all out there!

Thank you for that @thndrdancr ! I didn't know what else to do. Let me know if it changed anything.

I think I have some pretty fair prices listed, certainly much lower than they were bringing at Gardner auction. I am almost ready for the girls to start laying, I will update you on the new pen progress in a couple of days. Talked to Brad this morning, said he was pretty sick and visiting the doctor a lot lately so I put off my visit until next week. Is your hen doing any better yet?

Thanks, Trisha and Chickendanz for your info.

I am torn as to what to do right now. I think it's reaching emergency time so I am going to do what I can to trap her and dose her tonite.

Hey I was just told by a very reliable breeder Sid at Texas Peafowl that a hen in distress is almost always egg bound. Be sure to check her for that as well. I'll send you a message.

Ralph you never cease to amaze me. I had no idea you had silkies as well. I honestly think you must have as many birds as I do. My back up buyer came and got my Mandarin drake extra today. To think I could have sold him months ago if I hadn't been letting this other person put me off over and over. The person that backed out says they want to buy Mandarin chicks when they hatch but I've already decided that isn't going to happen. I will keep them all as opposed to being strung along again.
I also made some more money and sold some chicken chicks to the Mandarin buyer so that was a nice monetary surprise. Nice birds seem to sell themselves.
I've been pretty much down all afternoon. Running a fever and feeling lousy. I'm guessing that cold north wind blew in some pollens I don't get along with. I was going to go get a load of feed today but they were booked solid so it got postponed until tomorrow. I was secretly glad cause I sure didn't feel like being out.
I shut the cat in the shop earlier. I think it's kitten day. She was at my feet begging all morning and her milk is coming in. This time I want her to have the kittens where we can interact with them. I know she doesn't want to stay in the shop, but I hope she settles down and just has them. It's a good thing I have another cat in the house that doesn't get along with her or I'd have probably moved her in here. It crossed my mind. I DON'T need a litter of kittens in the house.

Oh man I bet it IS egg binding! Babe only comes down from rafters late evening. We'll probably no catching her now, dang! I did catch her and dosed her with oregano, which would help her antibiotic wise. I don't think she is tame enough to mess with her hiney!

Maybe tomorrow, what's best for egg binding???? I used to use a bit of nutmeg with olive oil in my showgirl, kept her from being in pain. Poor darlin, I don't want to lose her.

I know I can't do warm bath, lol, I am pretty much worse for wear just catching her. OW!!! To the scratches all over my arms and legs. Good news tho, I was also able to dose my other bs hen and 1 ib hen, tho how I am gonna know which one tomorrow I don't know! Been so long since I dealt with egg binding and never in a peahen! :(. She is my fave hen. :(
