Consolidated Kansas

Welcome to the new folks!

There is a big uproar about the news release & stop movement order from the state. As I told people yesterday on the FB swaps they're just trying to stop the movement of the disease into our state. So far we have only had one case reported & if they keep people from bringing in birds from other states maybe we won't get more. It's no reason to panic at this point, yes it is hurting people who go to shows, swaps, & fairs but as I said to someone yesterday it's better than losing all of your birds. The way I understand it mostly big poultry farms have been the ones affected, not so much backyard breeders. Just keep practicing good biosecurity & you should be OK unless you have waterfowl who visit your farm on their way migrating. I'm glad now we don't have a pond on our property.

Danz, I did read yesterday there are a couple of states not shipping chicks out but you would have to check. I think most hatcheries are still shipping.

If you can get to the Burlington area, you should consider getting chicks from @Chicken Danz. She has beautiful, healthy birds with robust chicks. They wouldn't have to be shipped (no shipping cost) and you would be able to see the parents. You would save money and avoid shipping all at once. There are also other local breeders with nice birds. My first 7 came from a hatchery, and they were fine, but if I had it to do again, I'd buy local.

I've got hundreds of birds from a few weeks to some breeding stock for sale. Lots of 100% English Orpingtons in many colors. ex: white, lavender, jubilee, some gold laced, BBS, etc etc. Some Black brahmas (excellent birds), Some project brahmas. These are colors I am working on. They would be glue, gold, gold laced etc combinations. I plan to keep those I want for my project but that means lots of birds to sell as well. They are excellent layers and beautiful. I have some younger speckled sussex, some heritage barred rock, some Araucana babies. I have a trio of Araucana I would probably sell very cheap They are the ones I don't want to keep for breeders. Great blue egg layers. I also have midget white turkey poults, some guinea keets, some red golden pheasant, some yearling peacocks and several sabastopol goslings.
Way too many birds!!! I'm sure I forgot something.
It's hard to quote prices cause they vary by age and what breed they are but I make awesome deals if you buy more than just a few.
