Thanks Konza. I appreciate the validation. I do love my birds! How are the keets doing anyway? I've hatched a few more.
That's halarious! I start a lot of my chicks on hard boiled egg. It gets them going good.
Just for fun a pic of some of the other things I do out here. My chickens are great weeders and bug eaters.
Totally sweet! My ideas and thoughts are about stimulating conversation. We have all seen the examples I speak of.

I would never ever suggest I am better. Again I just suggest we set an example rather than be an example. Einstein couldnt remember weather he had socks on, or much less where he actually lived. I have just 21 birds and I can after three days just remember which bird the fox actually took. Wow with 200 do they all have names? Great that their physical therapy; great that the family is involved. Husbandry is not about someone else doing it. Yes I am guilty of having more birds than safe cages. I just offered poignant reminders of the truths we need to consider. I think my points are made. I know that some times I am abrasive. I also know this, the natural history of the chicken may be a mockery of domestic chickens but I also really value the personalities of individual chickens. Foxy only survivor of the local fox; lived 3 months on my kitchen table; talks to me every day. I am her roo!! Too true of a lesson for me to think; I would hope to know each and every chicken in a flock of 200.
I guess here I would suggest that anyone would do some self evaluation. Dont defend yourself, just evaluate what you do. I have not been to your place. I see only what you post. Again; until chickens have the lowly value of the dog we need to set and example and not be it!

I have a lot more than 20-21 birds....whatever number it is that you've got and I used to have a heck of a lot more......and even tho I don't name them, I can guarentee I know each of them. I don't think because a person has a lot of birds that they are a hoarder.....and they certainly aren't the same as a puppy mill. Doesn't really matter whether a person has 5 or 500 birds, the 500 can be taken care of just as well as the 5.
