You are so sweet!!!

Well this weather is a slap in the face after spending two days down in OKC & yesterday was over 60 degrees, it was beautiful out. We went down to finally do our Christmas with my DS & family. Then yesterday took the two grandkids to the Science Museum down there. Boy keeping up with a 2 almost 3 year old is not something I'm used to, he just wore me out & even my 12 year old GD said she was tired as well. I was exhausted when we got home last night, but it was good to see them all.

I sure am not looking forward to going out in the cold to take care of birds & animals today, ugh.

Well, it's day 14 for my eggs. We finally found a light that is strong enough for us to see through the brown and blue shells. I definitely saw movement in the two brown and one green and I think I saw movement in the other green. So, now we wait! My little silky has been a great mommy so far.

Yay!!
Yeah Trish this weather totally bites. It's snowing here and it was supposed to be done by now. I'd love to just stay inside today and just stay warm. I'm exhausted. I was on the go the last two days and then stayed up late canning some fresh green beans I bought yesterday. Not my idea of fun and it sure made me feel grouchy to work all evening after starting early in the day.
I can honestly say I hate this time of year!!!

Is this safe to use??

It looks like it may have some freezer burn. I'm sure it's OK but the flavor won't be very good. I usually just cook those for the dogs & give them a treat with their food.

We got our lamb meat yesterday from the 4 we took into the locker. They had forgotten to call us so it took longer than usual to get it back. We normally don't do that many at once but last year we had two sets of ram lambs. It was a lot of meat & should last us a year. This year we probably won't have very many since we just have the one lamb from the oldest ewe & the younger one hasn't bred yet that I know of. She could surprise us though, that's what happened when she was born, she was a total surprise.

Yesterday my free range chickens really weren't happy about the cold, they were all huddled up on the front porch & they all even ran in when I went to feed them in the afternoon. That usually just doesn't happen but I think they were just glad to get in out of the cold wind. The two new waterers I bought for the two pens of chicks aren't keeping up with the cold. I noticed both of them had ice in the tray part so I had to dig it out so the chicks could get water. The water in the containers wasn't frozen, just the part at the bottom where they drink so I think it just isn't keeping that part warm enough in this cold.

Does anybody have rabbits that has a good solution for water for them in the winter? I have to take hot water out every day to pour in their dishes, it's hard to keep water for them this time of year.

Wow! I'd just about eat that pumpkin!

I'm giving mine a warm gruel of yogurt, oats, cracked corn, black SF seeds in the evening.

Plinky lol i got a bunch of jack o lantern pumpkins right after Halloween i cut them in half and put them in the deep freezer so then whenever i need to give them a warm treat i just pop a couple halfs into the oven and then top with whatever i have on hand :)

@tatinatimom , the meat looked good to me. Looks like the skin might be freezer burnt but I'd just cut that off. I don't eat the skin anyway myself.
@Dani4Hedgies you and I think a lot alike. Yesterday morning I made suet cakes of sort with bird seed, out of date pancake syrup, peanut butter etc. It really smelled good when I got it all cooked up. I think I would have eaten it if it weren't bird seed. My birds got blackberries and sunflower seeds yesterday. The peafowl got cauliflower. I can't afford to treat them much. Too many of them.
I've not been feeling good for days now. Last night it took it's toll. I had leg cramps all night and coughed the entire night. I knew I was fighting a sinus infection but the cold finally took it's toll on me.
Luckily thanks to Bre and her bringing a friend, I sold several birds yesterday, and donated a few boys so I wouldn't have to butcher them. The hog went to the locker to be butchered as well. It's not a lot but hopefully will be a little less feed to put out. I have a customer coming tomorrow and need to take some pictures today. Won't make much money but hope to move another boy. I have several girls I need to move to the breeder pens as well but it's too cold right now. I have the pop doors closed to save heat in the building.
