I'm not far from Topeka. What kind of chicks are you looking for?

Looking for good layers but not broody hens. I am in a subdivision so I cant have roosters. The color of egg laid does not matter to me. I have looked at some of the hatcheries but would like to buy locally if possible, not to sure I want to buy from the chick days around here.

You may have to buy older birds if you want specific breeds and only pullets. Lots of breeds have to be vent sexed rather than being able to sex them at birth. Even if buying from a hatchery their average of sexing pullets is never 100%.

I found a lady not to far from me who has some sex linked babies. Thank you for helping!!

@Momma2bellas ,I'm glad you found some. Good luck with them.
I got 19 Sabastopol eggs today. But unfortunately I had 5 of them that had frozen and cracked. I'm afraid the others may have gotten too cold to develop as well. The last one I got was this evening while I was putting in a new gate on their pen. It had just been laid. So maybe one was good for sure.
I loaded up about 30 Sabastopol eggs today. Sure hope I have some good hatches.

My geese are not laying yet, the gander is being a stinker right now so he is in breeding mode. I haven't seen any eggs from my ducks yet either & I thought they would be laying by now. I'm starting to incubate chick eggs for orders though, I sure hope the fertility is good, fingers crossed.

My ducks are laying well and the geese really just started so we are in the egg mode these days. Most of the ducks are sold waiting for pickup. I have some young ones that are just now starting to lay an egg here and there. It's going to be several months before the babies start laying. I just started the second incubator. The chicken eggs could still use a little better fertility though. I can fill small orders but not large ones. I still have a few that are being stubborn about laying.
I'm moving out some girls today and hopefully will get some young ones moved in later this weekend to the breeding pens.
I got my gate to the goose pen put in and got some makeshift wire on it so it is good for now. The other gate was a little short for the opening. When my fencer built the gate opening he left it about two feet too wide. The gate I had is about 2 feet too long but that works better. I'll just reuse the shorter gate going to the pasture when I put more fence in there.
I got the baby ducks moved to the duck pen which I sectioned off for them. They're still really young but they are old enough to be outside unless we have a really really cold snap.

I can't believe you have ducklings already danz! My ducks should be laying, I don't know what the hold up is with them. Maybe I need to let them back out to free range.

Oh Trish I might have hatched some by now cause the pekins started laying early, but I can't claim these. These are cayugas I ordered so I could go back to strictly cayuga in domestic ducks.

Well I said my geese weren't laying & then went out & found eggs in a nest. I was changing out water while deciding whether to gather the eggs or leave them & let the goose sit on them. Before I could make a decision my GP Lily found the eggs & ate one before I could get there so I picked up the remaining 4 & brought them in. I was so aggravated! Then I went over to the duck pen & let them out & checked the nest in there & found 3 eggs there so I grabbed them. Right after I left there my other GP Jasmine went in & checked out the duck nest. I'm glad I got those eggs first.
