OKay- here is where I'm at tonight. Not really much farther, but there is some progress. The second picture that shows the storage area- I meant to add another 2x4 at the top for the door. I got a little carried away and put plywood on there, but there's still room for me to put in the 2X4 tomorrow for the top of the door. Otherwise, the roof will be on top of the door with no room to open the door. Oh and ignore all the scrap plywood all over the place- yuck. I've made a total mess of our yard!!
The second set of pictures is the nest box. I don't know it it's really that interesting, but I showed a before and after of the floor being put in.
Like I said, this is totally dragging. But I did pick up the lumber for the roof today and got all the hurricane clips to attach the trusses with. Going to use a 'king truss' design, which is really easy and should be simple to put together... we'll see, though.
That looks like it would have withstood the wrath of Irene. You should be very proud of yourself, and I can't wait to see more!
I'm nearly done with my new set-up, but it's taking forever. I'm going to have to haul more lumber out to get the netting up, as I want good height so even normal height folks can walk under there. Hubby complained when I made it 5'5" before...but it worked for me!
My breeds will be separated out again and pure for early fall sales and I'll be done culling for winter before it hits...if I can control myself and not start any new projects. I'm NOT hatching in my basement this winter...at least I don't think so...
So you guys are making progress and I'm ruining my house with paint. I have so much I need to do. I can't get DH started on my projects. He's been tinkering with his 'new' truck and that's all that has gotten done. This heat is wiping me out. I just can't stand to be out in it again. I see we missed another potential for rain last night. This isn't good.
I'll bet anyone a dollar that Renee will be hatching in her basement this winter. Any takers.
I think I am the only male posting on this thread now days.
I am not gonna take that bet. She hasn't hatched in how long. I bet she has the shakes right now just thinking about the fluffy cuteness that is chicks.
I keep saying I need a break from hatching but I keep doing it. I don't know if I could keep from hatching chicks or not. It's been 18 months since I had no incubators going at all.
