Consolidated Kansas

That is quite the read. I almost felt like I was back in college again taking geology. I am thinking any one who lives in Lawrence might want to have earthquake insurance. Seems to be the hotspot.
I feel pretty safe here. I live so close to the Nuke plant and I know the earth was studied and it was placed on one of the most stable sites available. That's almost an oxymoron isn't it..... feeling safe cause I have a nuke plant in my back yard!

Danz-If your female had an "accidental" breeding, would it be with another GP? I can't remember what all you said about your dogs. Our older male is old enough the vet didn't think he would live a lot longer. Some days it seems like he can hardly move, but if he smells a predator he can still take off light lightening, but he doesn't have as much endurance as he used to. If something happened to Buddy, I might just be in the need of another GP this spring. One never knows.

I haven't felt a thing! I can't believe I'm missing out on the earthquakes, though I did live in L.A for 5 or so years. Maybe I'm too desensitized.

Welcome back.

Hey! Great job on the coop. I'll bet you are happy to get it done before the snow flies.

Is some of the wood from pallets?

How about Pullet Palace? Pallet Palace? I dunno.

I have a coop for my layers made from an antique horsedrawn blacksmith wagon. I never have come up with a name for it. What would you name something like that? It's the home for my "working girls." Maybe one of these days a name will stick.

Yes Ivy, they would be purebred GPs. The two dogs that were here when you were. I haven't seen any breeding yet. I tried to check her behind while ago but she was determined to keep that tail covering it. She has only had one litter, about 6 months ago and had 10 puppies. They were all sold within 2 weeks of the time I decided to let them go. Of course it was a great thing that two of those people took two pups. I sold every one of my pups to people with chickens. I just don't really want to deal with pups in the coldest months and I really didn't think I would breed her again. The only reason I would consider it would be to have one of their pups for myself. They might however overrule my decision. I need a chastity belt for her! I sold every one of my pups to people with chickens.
LN, Nice job on your coop. Looks like you spent a lot of time cutting and nailing.
I was out doing chores and found that my filter for the Mandarin pond was working too good. It had filtered out so much stuff that it blocked the water flow, over flowed and drained the pond. So I stood out in the cold rain filling the pond again and trying to regulate the flow so it would continue running. I took out the finer filter media to see if it will still clean it up at all. I keep telling myself I should have made an internal pond filter and over ridden DHs decision it should be external so it would be easier to maintain. So far this just isn't the case!
I am in the house trying to warm my frozen feet. Then I'm going back out to check the filter and work on building a new shelter for the yard ducks.

Thanks! It is made almost entirely out of pallets and reclaimed wood. The framing was all new wood because I couldn't find long enough lengths for the run and coop. I plan on caulking it a little bit because there are a few gaps, but it's pretty much finished. The girls better appreciate it!

Ho-Hum, what a day raining and now it has cleared.

Ivy sold my extra Silver Campine cockerel. Hope to sell some of my other extras, don't need them over winter any way.

Been thinking about how I can put lights on the birds to start them laying sooner, and I think what I will do is get a 2x4 and run thru the top of the kidding panels, and attach light sockets. Then, run a cord, and hook it up. Each pen that has birds will have their own light. I have a timer somewhere, and I am going to use the curly bulbs. The lights will go on at 6 am, and off at 10 pm. Hopefully that will do the trick.
I need to get some pictures up, but like right now it is time to go to work.

I have a guy that keeps stopping by wanting to buy casper. I told him he is not for sell. Course he wants a dog that allready know his stuff. I just don't think I can let go off my dogs.

So lets see pictures.
It has rained here all day. I went out to work on my new duck shelter and CH came out and started being critical of the way I was doing it so I just came back in the house and started cleaning. I just gave out. I have so much more to do but it looks a lot less cluttered any way.
This stupid weather makes me hurt and it makes me feel irritable. I thrive on sunshine.
If it would rain and then let the sun shine for a while and then rain again it would be fine.
Sounds like I have some company so I'd better go.
