Consolidated Kansas

Aww! She looks like she doesn't really want to be inside! I know how that is. Once in a while ours come in, but they soon want out. Buddy won't come into the house at all. I believe I met your male while I was there. He's a lover!

Do your dogs have the extra toe that GP's have? I don't know if that is something all GP's have or not. Ours do. It looks kind of funny.

Yep they do. I had a few people suggest I have the extra dew claw removed but I think that proves they are purebred. No she didn't want her picture taken. I lured her in with cat food. She takes a lousy picture but I think she has the sweetest face ever. Yeah Fluff likes to greet every one and lay on them and wine to be petted.
I praised him over and over for standing up to the lab and chasing him off like a man last night. I'll upload a couple pics I took of her first litter.

Here's a pic of the pups just like the 2nd day after they were born.

Here is a picture of some of them running in the yard with the chickens at about 6 weeks old.

It worries me how many she might have this time around. I went broke when they started eating puppy chow and then all the first shots, worming etc. It took 3 pups just to pay for the vetting.
She lost so much weight and looked haggard after all those pups. I was happy to see she is getting back in shape. I hate to put her through that again.
They were tied again this morning. Nice when you have someone here to buy chickens and your dogs are openly mating!

Danz, your dogs are beautiful & those puppies, how darling! Gosh, I feel for the momma dog though, geez 10 puppies! I know the GPs do usually have big litters though. The momma dog to my pup I'm getting right now had 8. I will be interested in a female from you for sure, so put me on the list. Do you all think I would be better off having two fixed females together or a male & a female fixed or does it matter? I just have always had female dogs since I was a child, I have never had a male dog. I have male cats, but not in the house. There I have only fixed females, the males are all outside cats.

My little Bella, the Mal-shi had to go to the Vet this morning. She got a hot spot under her chin on her neck & she got a staph infection in it. I had to leave her there so she could be sedated because she wouldn't let me or the Vet touch it. She will have to stay until Mon. morning & have it cleaned up & get medicine. Poor baby, she only weighs 6 pounds & she was feeling so miserable, I felt sorry for her.

It's just not my day at all. After going to the Vet to take the dog I came back & DH & I went out to take this pickup topper we got free yesterday out to the woods & unload it. I wanted to use it for an emergency hidy hole for the chickens in case they need it & for the outside cats if they need shelter also. After all it was free! It's a full length topper, not a short one, so it was rather heavy & awkward to move. I have had shoulder surgery previously about 2 years ago for a torn rotator cuff & that along with the arthritis just doesn't give me a lot of arm strength any more. We were trying to slide the topper down towards the end of the pickup so we could get it on the ground & the back window has a broken latch so we couldn't keep it shut. Hubby got up on the back of the truck & was pushing it down towards the bottom when it slid off the truck edge & the metal edge of the window slid all the way down my abdomen on the corner. Ouch! Now I have a very red, sore bruised scratch all the way down my right side of my abdominal area. I can't stand clothes touching it now, so I had to put a dressing over it with antibiotic ointment of course. Geez, what a day!

Those are great looking GP danz, I love how colorful your female is. Did you lose any pups from her laying on them, my freinds always lost 2 or 3 when they were still in the welping box. I would love to have one but I don't have the room, money or, anything to put them to work.

I can't speak for Danz, but the only litter we raised we lost one that the mother laid on. There was one that was a tiny runt, and she laid on it, too, but my son went out and found it not breathing and with no heartbeat. He gave it CPR and managed to revive it. He bonded to that pup, so we kept it and it is a great livestock guardian. The one that did die was a beautiful big pup. So sad to loose one.

Nope she raised all 10. She was an excellent mother. I almost lost her a few days after she had the pups cause she didn't get cleaned out well and got an infection. That was really scary. I would have rather lost all 10 pups than risk loosing my girl. We had 6 girls and 4 males that litter. It worked out perfect.
If I were going to get GPs again I would get 2 females. They are just smarter, more driven, and more down to business than the males. The Males are so much bigger but my female is the one I know would take anything that posed a threat.
She is acting really run down right now. I don't know if it is hormones or what. I think I'm going to have the vet give her a full work up and make sure she is up to this.
It's kind of funny. You can tell she is having her period! Talk about PMS. She is being a little more selfish and chases the chickens away from her food bowl even if there is nothing in it. One of my neighbors was over here and she just didn't want him bothering her. She normally adores him.
I had a hard day. I cleaned out my hen house. It is a deep litter house and was many inches deep. This neighbor wanted the litter to put on his garden so he offered to come over and help clean it out. It would have taken me all day but with his help it took maybe an hour and half. So I got one more winter chore finished.
He also watched me feed and water everything and has offered to bring his brother and Dad over during TG week and feed my birds.I hate to ask him when he has company but he said they'd all enjoy it. I am trading the eggs for the week for his help. That's good cause my major customers won't need them that week.
