Maybe you will be hauling those kids next year, Sis!

Lol don't I wish! She is bound and determined to homeschool those boys. Might have ask you to "watch out" for them though.

I will, we have a good school here. I have good kids on my bus route, and don't take no foolishness either. All I have to do is shake my head no, and the whole bus gets quiet. They know what they can and can't do.

Hey! Good morning down south!

I just cleaned out the bottom of my stacking cage and I brought a roll of linoleum in to warm up so I can line the bottom of it with that. I've been going to do that for a while but today is the day. One of my little serama hens escaped in the clean up process.

As soon as she hit the ground one of my big black ameraucana roosters took in after her and I have no idea where she is hiding now.

I hope she comes back out of hiding when I go back out.

Hey up North in Cold country!!!. Poor baby serama, trying to remember to pronounce it right. Keep looking at places for sale, but nothing coming up in what you are looking for. Oh, well, something will show some time. I cleaned pens last night. Sold a trio of my rosecombs to sjarvis in oklahoma. Now just one more trio. and I will have some room!!!

Cool, Rosie! Sjarvis has some AWESOME old english. I'm glad he likes your rosecombs. I've got a few eggs in the 'bater. I hope I get a good hatch. I really like the rooster I got from you. Picking him out of the incubator was a pretty lucky draw, I'd say!

Hey, I beat ya to it. Already saw it, but I didn't reply until after you did.

I didn't realize you were afraid of bears. I thought brother E. was the only one that was afraid of them. I know brother J. sure got an adrenalin rush when he shot his 500+ pounder.

Yes, that is a beautiful mount. The coat on that bear is in pristine condition.

I just cannot take the thought of bears. I know they are close, but, I don't think my ole baling wire heart could take seeing one in the wild!!!

I understand the article, but even though they took away the funds, it is still going to be a law. I think it will be impossible to buy incandescent bulbs in Walmart or your local hardware or grocery store. My guess it will become one of those things you purchase from ebay or someplace that are shipped from china. There was a news report on them last night. It said none would be available "on the shelf" by October. I use compact flourescent in my fixtures that take normal light bulbs in the house but many of them take specialty bulbs which would get really expensive to replace.
I can also see this move raising the cost of compact flourescents because the manufacturers know they last longer so they'll want to up the price to make up for lost revenue of your normal light bulbs.
There isn't really anything that will replace a normal heat lamp unless you switch to halogens and they are even more pricy. Compacts won't work in our cookie tin heaters because they don't produce the heat you need.

Here's a picture I took a little bit ago. It's not the best picture. I had to zoom in a long ways as he was way out in the old hayfield. This is "Runt." He lets this cat sleep on him and walk and roll all over him. He also lets some of the chickens that free range snuggle up to him when it's cold out. Such a good dog. He's not this cozy with any predators, though. I was out in the woods a couple days ago and found a dead coyote that I'm pretty sure he or Buddy must have killed. It hadn't been dead for too many days. We hear coyotes all over in the distance on a calm night. We rarely see any close to the place, though. These dogs do their job well.
