But now that I've looked at that link again Hawkeye, I'm thinking maybe that egg is fertile after all. I hadn't looked at it in a long time but the pics showing different stages of fertility make me wonder if yours is in fact fertile. That cloudy area around the dot does look a lot like Cyn's pics of a fertile egg....

Trish, I mentioned that but they said it had to be done 5 yeas prior to have it in someone else's name. Medicaid also requires the bank statements for the past two months so there is no way we could fuel money away from what little they have to keep them from getting it. They have you coming and going. Just all the more reason for wondering why we pay into these funds just so we hav to pay them back. I guess at least Medicare pays some medical bills but still leaves them with way too much to pay for drugs and doctor bills. There have been several instances for both of my parents when they couldn't get the drugs they needed because medicare wouldn't pay for them. If they aren't generic they usually don't want to pay their part. That is probably one of the reasons why my Mom is in the shape she is. She has a rare disease and drugs aren't commonly used so it's hard for her to get what she needs.
It makes me VERY angry.
Time for the illegals to go home and live off their own country! I don't care who's toes I step on here. My parents both worked until they could no longer do it. Mom was 79 before she quit working full time and only quit then because her lungs were killing her. They paid into the system that was supposed to help them, but is being diminished by illegal immigrants who haven't paid a dime. So therefore they don't have what they need to stay alive at this point! I just have to vent at this point!

Danz-I'm sure it has to be frustrating to deal with that. I guess I'm fortunate that I don't have to. My mom died rather suddenly a few years back, and my Dad is on assisted living. He had the foresight to buy "nursing home" insurance which pays almost all of his care. His meds come from the VA and he has enough money to cover the rest. He lives in the opposite corner of the state, and I have one sister and 2 brothers who live close to him.

Hawkeye-I don't think that egg is fertile. The little dot is pretty concentrated. When they become fertile that dot will loose some of the concentrated white color in the center and kind of spread out.

I lost one of my best hens yesterday. I had moved her to a new pen, and I think she just wasn't eating. I'm really not sure. The food was disappearing every day, but I think the guineas were hopping up and eating the food out of her dish.

Take care everyone and enjoy this warm weather before it gets TOO hot.

That's what I was wondering! LOL I figured I'm just making things up! But there is clearly the light white ring around it-- it's just not as bright in that picture. I'm wondering if Seymore is getting mixed up with the wrong crowd around here. I don't know.

X2. (about your rant) I'm not a fan of our gov't throwing away money either. I'm sorry about the money problems this is going to cause. This is something you might want to think about with your own kids, too. My parents already have me on all of their banking and property. They learned this from dealing with my grandma. She had to move in with us. While she lived with us, they knew she was only going to get worse, so they transfered over everything she owned into my mom's name several years before she got really ill. There at the end, they just took my grandma's name off of it so she could keep her money when she went into the nursing home. There was nothing left in her name. My SIL just did this with her mom. Her mom is "renting" her house from her daughter. Now, that's not really the deal-- her mom bought the house a while back and then they realized her health is failing. So they got everything signed over to her daughter so that she wouldn't lose it all. It'll be several more years before her mom has to make any hard decisions, but at least the property and money will be safe, and her daughter is very honest. What a mess. I kept thinking of you today.

thanks!! I just had no idea about the egg. I'm really sorry about your hen. :(

We just didn't see this coming,Nor did we know the laws had changed so much. My folkd just bought their current place two years ago so it would have been impossible for them to have it signed over 5 years ago. Had we expected Mom to go to the rest home and had known the rules we could have funneled money out of their account, but we had really no idea this was coming.

I'm just so sorry Danz.

But it sounds like you and your sister are AMAZING kids. They are so fortunate to have you both.

Okay, got the Pinless Peepers on the 4 meanies-- the 2 barred rocks and the 2 SL Wyandottes. They tried to scratch them off and failed. Well-- until one of the Wyandottes got it off about an hour later. I guess I'll have to hunt her down later. I'm too tired to try again tonight. Here's their "sunglasses"

Hey Checoukan - I waved when you went by today. That bus was MOVIN! Just happened to stop at my daughters after I'd been to Mt Vernon - saw you when I was letting the baby look out the window. It was a GREAT day for getting the windows open. Come ON spring!

Danz, I'm so sorry you all have to go through this. I think it's ridiculous that we pay into these funds all our lives & then when we need help we can't get it. I agree with you about the illegals, send them home. We need to take care of our own people who have worked their whole lives here in the hopes of enjoying their old age. When I see all of the old people working at Wal Mart it makes me so angry that they have to even be there. I wasn't aware that you had to take things out of their name 5 years prior. I guess it's a good thing they did that years before my DH's dad became ill & died & his mom had to go to the nursing home. They live in MIssouri, but I think the laws are similar there with all of it. I guess if you have any inkling you will have to go to a nursing home you need to give your money & property to the kids long before. It's so sad that in this country, the most wealthy country in the world that we treat our people the way we do. Something needs to change in the government in a big way. They waste so much money on things that don't even matter & people make big money to do nothing. I don't believe anything politicians say, they talk out of both sides of their mouths. That's my rant for today.

Hawkeye, let us know how those pinless peepers work out for you.

Well day two on cleaning out the coop & I'm just done in tonight. I think tomorrow I will be able to get the rest of the shavings out of there, that is if I can still walk, I'm pretty sore tonight. You don't realize how much is in there until you start shoveling it all out. I have made a couple places to compost it down in the woods, so if the chickens will stay out of there it should break down & be some nice stuff eventually to use in the garden & flower beds. I may go down when I'm finished scooping it all out & cover it over with some old fence I have laying down there. At least the chickens wouldn't be able to get in there so easily & scratch it all out that way. I also cleaned out all of my rabbit cage trays today & put in fresh shavings there along with moving two of the bigger rabbits outside to one of my outdoor hutches. They were starting to get a little warm in the garage already today, so I thought I would start moving some outside. I have to repair a couple of the hutches I got before they can be used, but I have one 3 hole one I can use after I get it back together. We disassembled them to make it easier to get both in the back of the truck without killing ourselves. It will be nice though to have a clean coop to use for awhile again. It worked really well for 7 months to use the deep litter method. It was in need of cleaning at this point, but that's not bad for it to last that long without being cleaned. I told my DH awhile back though that he should buy stock in pine shavings as many as I use for both the chickens & rabbits. At least I won't have to clean trays this summer with most of them outside. The chickens will probably scratch around under the hutches & spread the rabbit droppings around for me.

Well I'm off to the shower, I just had to sit down for awhile to rest, I couldn't keep moving any more, my body was just done for today.
