Consolidated Kansas

Anybody aware of anyone with quality gamefowl lines in Topeka Kansas
I don't know of anyone in Topeka but welcome to the forum. I do know of someone over in the Lawrence area that may have some or would probably know of someone who does. It would be the Lickteigs. Whispering Hills Ranch 785-542-2279

That was a great Christmas present cleansquared.

Has anyone seen this recipe? I think it looks easy & I'll bet the chickens would love it. I think I will try to make one for them.

Welcome Hardscaper87!

Trish I think you could substitute the grease for peanut butter as well. They would love that. I think it would be kind of fun to make as well. My problem would be deciding which pen got it. I sure don't want to make one for every group. Although it would be adorable. What a cute idea.

Wish I had some gelatin. I'd be making one of those scratch wreaths today.
Yesterday I got Winston out of the kennel and tried to work him on a leash. Needless to say he doesn't like a leash at all. He would run like the wind, then when that didn't work he'd just lay down and refuse to move. He about wore me out. The other dogs are watching him but not barking at him any more. I guess slowly they are accepting him. I hope now that Christmas is done I can get him over to the vet and get a round of shots and stuff for him. I am sure we looked rather comical out in the yard with me being pulled at warp speeds behind him. I need to work on a couple areas of the fence before I let him run with the other dogs. If the weather would cooperate I would like to walk him around the fence line so he knows where it is.

I'm pretty sure I have the ingredients for the wreath but I have some other things I need to do first. I got a new shelving unit for my shoes & today I'm going to work on taking down the one I have that never worked out well & putting the new one together. I need to make some macaroons later on too, we're kind of on a kick with those right now.

That's good that your GPs are starting to accept the new one. I know that people usually do walk the fence line with new GP puppies to teach them the borders. I never did that with mine because I had two at once & I couldn't really even get to some of my fence lines at the time, still can't. My GPs just seem to know where they're supposed to be & are pretty good about staying here doing their jobs. They will go through the barbed wire fence if they hear coyotes on the other side in my neighbor's field. She doesn't have any horses or other animals there any more since her husband died, just 3 dogs that are confined in her yard. My GPs used to watch over her horses & goat when I first got them, that's how she noticed they were here. She called & asked me if I had gotten some new dogs & then I had to explain what they were & why they were here because her husband was concerned they would hurt his horses. I told her that no they were actually watching over the horses for them. They used to sit up on the top of the hill & just sit & watch the horses over there when they were pups & that was before I got goats & sheep. Now they watch them most of the time, they're more fun to watch over than chickens, although they do run to see what is going on if there is a commotion anywhere.

Well I guess we're not having Christmas with my son & family until New Year's, it just hasn't worked out to get everyone together.

There are two places my dogs get out if they are chasing coyotes. They come back but Winston is just at that age when the GPs tend to want to roam so I don't want to take a huge chance. If I fix those two places and walk the fence I think he'll get the idea. Britt likes to sit out in the field which is really too far out for my tastes and I am afraid that she'll take Winston out there. I'd really like him to take up the middle section where Marshmallow used to patrol. I never trained the other dogs cause they just knew; but I want to be sure on him. He's a little different because he started life totally without any human contact. Also the ranch he was on wasn't on a road but way up a long private drive. I just want to be sure he is safe here.
We often have our family Christmas after New years just to find a time when people can get together. I actually like it a lot better than having it earlier like we did this year. I'm always a little slower getting into the spirit of things for some reason. It gives my mind a time to catch up to the events. LOL
I really need to go to town to get a few things but sure don't want to. I have a script I need filled and eggs I need to deliver.
