I'm splitting an order with Tara. We're both getting a few lavs and I'm getting Wheaten/Blue Wheatens with a majority of Blue Wheatens. DH is actually getting some of them for me for Valentines!

Yes KingBee I do have some Spaulding blood in one of the birds from my purple pied, white eyed girl, and white girl pen. That is also where this one peacock without eyes came from and most of my pied chicks. I might have had a white chick from that pen and not realized it since I just hatch them all together. I have black shoulder girls from there and they all look white when they hatch. My whites are all white though so I'm guessing that is what happened. Hope it's okay.
Well this peacock without eyes is a two year old and has a train. The pied cock the same age has very distinct eyes in his train. I guess I'll watch and see what happens. Maybe he's just growing slower. His train is a little shorter than the other one.
I often have chicks hatch a day early but I've noticed my bigger breeds tend to take 21 days. I haven't checked yet to see if I have any hatches yet today.
I actually turned a customer down today for buying birds. I just told them I was too tired from earlier work and it was too cold today. I have never done that.
We were gone last evening and I had a busy day yesterday. People are always putting me off, so I figured I don't have to work 7 days a week for them. They still plan to come get birds later so I guess it hasn't hurt anything yet.
Prairie, the dogs are looking great.

OK, I am confused, is the Spaulding blood in the Purple Pied, the IBWE hen, or the White hen? It doesn't bother me a bit, just curious, White Spauldings are hard to come by. When Whites are chicks they are white, BS chicks are more yellowish to cream color and develop peach/tan feathers on the wings in just a few days. Did I tell you that the 'ring on a string' worked? We got one cock and two hens from you.

So how are you identifying the spaulding blood? Maybe I misunderstand what you are determining that with?
If it is what I am thinking I can't answer that. I have those three in a pen together and I just mark the eggs as I gather them. But I looked at Legg's and saw his white Spaulding and now I'm confused.

I've got lots of chicks hatching today and no place to put them yet. I am so cold I don't want to go out and work. I supposed I am going to have to get in gear soon.

The easiest way to see it is in the yellow cheeks as in this pic on Leggs site;

Mine would be very low percentage as the crest is not bunched and it does not have a long neck and legs. It does have the yellow cheeks and a bit of yellow hue in two places although I have read that corn will turn a white bird yellow too.

Thanks, Danz. I'm still working on putting weight on Willow but she's at least doubled the amount of coat that she had when she got here.
Stay warm everyone, it's bitterly cold here. My new angora rabbit has been inside because he's just too young and it's too cold for him to be outside. I was afraid the eggs would freeze before the were gathered today but DH gathered them for me. my doe still hasn't kidded and I'm terrified she'll end up kidding in this weather, and inspite of regular checking I'll miss it and the babies will end up with hypothermia. I know I'm paranoid but it is freaking me out. Hopefully Willow would help lick the babies clean and dry. She's definitely Very fond of her goats and I've seen her lick them several times.

I know what you mean Prairie Fleur. I still have a ewe due any time. I have that one little lamb but he seems to be doing fine. We got him banded today to make him a wether. He took it pretty well. I just wanted to get it done before he got any older or bigger.
