Starting to be a little concerned about our classroom hatch. Today at 3:30 it will be 21 days. No pips, not even from the silkes and I'm not hearing any cheeps or seeing any rocking... I wasn't here the last time they candled, but everyone else said they looked good. I'm tempted to pull one out and candle it just incase...

What is your humidity? If the humidity is over 65%, I would be tempted to candle one also. If humidity isn't high enough, it could shrink wrap the other chicks so they won't be able to hatch. If it is right at 65% or under, I would give it 3 more days and then throw my hands up.

We don't have a hydrometer in the incubators. But they have been good about keeping the reservoir full. I finally saw some rocking and heard a few cheeps while the kids were at recess. I'm not sure how willing I would be to emerge in a room full of third graders

LOL I definitely would be holding off until night fall to emerge if I were a chick. Can you imagine how scary it would be to come into the world with a bunch of screaming grabby kids looking on?
I was on the move all day. I had to take a trip to go get 1000 pounds of chick starter. That sent me southwest. Then I came back home to switch trucks in just enough time to make my appointment at the coop to pick up my feed. I pulled the feed truck around the building and immediately it buried itself in the mud. I tried cardboard, a piece of plywood etc to get some traction but it just kept going deeper.
so I got my tractor and tried pulling it backwards out of the mud. That didn't work well because the further i pulled the muddier it was. So I drove back around and hooked the tractor to the front of the truck. Of course that meant laying on the ground in the mud trying to figure out where on earth there was a safe place to hook up chains that wouldn't tear something up. I got it pulled out enough I could move it and jumped in it and headed to the co-op. By the time I got home it was late about time for DH to get home from work. The wind was blowing like crazy so I still don't have the feed unloaded yet. I need to get my rear in gear and get that shoveled off the truck. Maybe if I get that much done DH will help unload those 50 pound bags of chick starter.
I feel like I've been beaten up again. I think going some where is harder on me than staying home and physically laboring all day.

6 pips when I got there this morning. I think the temp may have been a bit low setting them back a day. As predicted the Silkies are leading the way. The kids are a ball of excitement. Since it's Earth Day I think they will be outside quite a bit, so that should help :)

My guess is your other chicks could take up to another two days if the silkies are hatching.
It is very cloudy and cold here today. It's only supposed to get to 61. It's just 40 now which is pretty darned winter like if you ask me. I really am tired of cool weather. I was thinking of cleaning out my old brooder house today and moving the youngest of these chicks out there but it's going to have to warm substantially before I do that. Feeding and watering is going to be enough outside exposure.
I have all kinds of birds that need moved outside and it's just not going to happen in this kind of weather. Heavens it's almost May. It's supposed to be warm out.

I agree Danz, this weather is crazy. I think it has the birds confused too because my really warm weather layers just haven't started up again yet, they say it's not time. It's cool here today as well & is supposed to be tomorrow too.
