Or pure anything else either for the most part. My first 7 chicks were from a hatchery. They were sweet, lovely birds -- 2 Delawares, a Golden Campine, a gold laced Wyandotte, an EE, a Partridge Rock, and a Welsumer. The quality of the birds I've hatched from Danz's eggs is SO much higher as to be on a different planet. I wish I had known about all you local (or sort of local) breeders before I ordered my chicks. Oh well, at least MPC was honest about the EE's. Trish I hope your roosters get here in good time and condition. My fingers are crossed for you. Be sure to let us know.

Can anyone tell me where to take a cutting of a plant to find out if it's harmful to Chickens as I really don't have grass in my backyard I have this ground cover that has blue purple flowers on it during spring and summer. Thank you

What is the best laying chicken
If you want a chicken that will lay eggs consistently and if you aren't concerned about how many years you get out of them I would recommend a red sex link, red star, or cinnamon queen depending on what the hatcheries are calling them. But you'll probably only get about 2 years of laying out of them.
If you want white eggs a good ole leghorn is about the best bet, but again you loose time they will lay and they won't be calm birds that you'd want as pets either.

Why don't you take a picture of it and post it. Closer the better. Chickens are pretty smart and won't generally eat toxic food.

Anyone in the Wichita area needing to reduce their flock of pullets or laying hens? I have lost 2 girls this week

that leaves me only 7 girls for my rooster. I would be willing to go the Salina area as well.

@chicken danz. Sounds like you're doing better. :). I really wish I was closer so I could have helped out with the birds. I hope you continue to improve. :)
