Consolidated Kansas

Hey all, haven't been on for awhile I seem to be hanging out with the girls in the run.

Question I need help with (chicken math got me)

I have 9 week old chicks in move to the main coop/run, what the best way to do this to mix the flocks? The older flock is approx 10 months old

Can you keep them any longer in their own separate pen? If you can I would do that. If not I would put them inside a big meta dog crate inside the coop with the older birds with their own water and feed. I'd keep them separate like that for at least another month but 2 months would be even better.

She could have Gleet. It's not uncommon. It's just an imbalance in their system. Is this another one of the two new ones? You might try putting a little ACV in their drinking water to help them digest and balance out their systems. Sometimes the girls just have fluffy skirts and don't stay as clean so it's possible it could be nothing.

I agree with Bre, I'd give them some more time if possible. If not contain them within the pen for at least a couple weeks in a cage or something.
So busy around here.
I've been slowly working on Christmas gifts but far far from done. I guess I'm going to have to give up and actually go shopping one of these days.

No, I've had this one since she was a chick. I'll try that.

I hadn't heard of Gleet until someone else on this thread had a problem with it. In addition to the ACV in the water, probiotics are suggested since this is an imbalance & an equivalent of a yeast infection. You can buy the probiotic powder at any farm store, it may be in the goat & sheep section or sometimes places have little packets of it in the poultry section. It is something good to have on hand for your chicken pharmacy. I wouldn't however put both the ACV & the probiotic in the water at the same time, you might rotate between the two.

Ok. She is getting a lot worse. If you look on my thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...ny-whitish-poop-in-need-of-help#post_16216901 I added another picture.
Please Help!

I just quick looked at your other thread. She looks prolapsed. Has anyone else said so? I don't know if a chicken who hasn't even laid yet can become egg bound on egg #1????

You'll need to push the vent back up. There are videos. I don't bring my chickens to a vet but if that's an option for you you could do that. She'll need antibiotics after to ward off infections from any possible fissures.

Yes, a lot of people had. I have no idea.
