Consolidated Kansas

It was cool yesterday, but it rained here in the afternoon hard. We're making up now I guess for lack of rain but it's too little too late for a lot of things.

Hi folks! County fair time in Lawrence! Some nice 4-H chickens there. Alas no open class, though.
Does anyone in NE Kansas have any advice on legal defense for a backyard chicken owner? A friend of mine who lives in a nice neighborhood has been taken to court :barnie by her next door neighbor (who seems to be generally discontent with everything that goes on in the neighborhood) alleging that the chickens have damaged her property, that they are illegally kept (too many) and also a cruelty to animals allegation!
Any thoughts appreciated!

Are you in Lawrence Plinky? I am.

The laws in town specifically say you are allowed to have chickens, just not roosters. However that doesn't stop someone from taking you to court and wasting your time/money.

Ghostnuke, yes I'm in Lawrence. Fortunately it's not me that has the problem. I'm familiar with the backyard ag ordinance. My friend has had chickens since before it was enacted (chickens were allowed even before).
Was hoping to find someone who has had any similar unfortunate experiences.

Congrats on your chick.
I got my cows moved to the pasture finally yesterday and it went as smooth as silk. I love it when a plan works like it should. Sure didn't take them long to find the green grass even though the pasture had just been baled. A rain would be heavenly for them now. My hay was a failure. We barely got any hay at all. I am sure it was because we just haven't had the rain. Looks like I'll be buying hay this year again.
Yep we’ve been calling it microdot until we know if it hen or roo. It’s got feathered feet and five toes like it’s dad.
