For What Its Worth....The difference between chlorine in city water and "diluted bleach water" actually could be HUGE!! Chlorine is one of the most caustic things Iv ever came in contact with. The chlorine in any certified water system is .5 to 4 parts per million, bottom line,VERY small amounts, and safe. Diluted bleach water will be off the scale most likely.... + all the scent and other things added to bleach. If you look at the bottle, theres usually about 5% available chlorine, that leaves 95% of the stuff made for laundry.... I would not give ANY animal I cared about diluted bleach water. But if it works for somebody else, Im good with that. BTW, I am a class II public water system operator. Bill

Howdy friends; after much debate and lots of fun I have decided to get rid of my ducks. I have a magie drake and hen, 1 pekin hen, and 2 rohan hens. They are not quite a year old. May put them on craigs list as well but I would take $20 all of them. Ducks are nice but I just have to have seperate water for them and cant put them on my pond.

I was wondering if you would chime in about this.

I am glad you confirmed what I told Daren today on the phone. I wouldnt do it. I am a chemist by training. But if you find a way to make that work it is a free world.
I would rather use something designed to kill the worms/parisites that has been tested and confirmed non toxic or even a lower level of toxic.

Really.....I always thought they were basically the same thing. Guess I should have taken high school chemistry afterall! I personally wouldn't give my critters it either......I would think we're probably talking about a few drops per waterer that they're adding but I don't have any idea. I'm just glad I don't have to drink town water!

Sorry Bill, I don't like drinking our towns water either.

Well Mike, Our water comes from well down in the bottoms. Very high mineral content. This means HARD water. City of Lawrence shoots for a hardness of 100, ours is 325 +. This mineral content also carries a small amount of taste aswell. Then we aint even gonna talk about the pipe in the street, lines in your house, the other 1000 things that contribute...... Long story short, Man I hear that alot!!!

Let's get one thing straight I wasn't gonna try this, again i was just surprised to hear it , but again as I told Bill ,and Mikeks I can not argue with these fine folks as their birds are in immaculate condition. Also I do not know the ratio of this I do know that the dish they use is small with a tiny amount of water.

5% available chlorine. 95% other stuff..... Okay, just WHAT IS the other stuff? I had always assumed the "other stuff" was water to dilite the chlorine.
