Sorry that has to hurt. My friend did out do you he shot himself in the left hand yesterday with a 9mm hollow point. He was very lucky since he missed all the major blood vessels, no nerve or tendon damage one broken bone for his index finger down by the wrist but the swelling has placed all the bones where they should be so no surgery. He was on lucky guy.

I have been so busy and I had a chicken get injured since I did not have the time to care for her we processed her for dinner. It was our first meat bird. My husband learned a lot so when the time comes to make dinner out of my 2 SLW (from the pullet bin) he will know how to do it faster. My 2nd broody hatched 2 EE/Cochin mixed babies today. So my 1st broody has one chick and now broody 2 has 2 more. I hope they are hens.

We are still working on the pen area and I am still trying to get my house done.

I need to clone myself. Hope everyone is having a great week.

OzawkieBantams if I was closer I would be happy to help. I hope you can get some help. Sorry about your fingers hope they heal fast.

Thanks again for the suggestions for getting some friends for my lonely little Marans, Merry. The stable that always has chicks (thanks Tonya!!!) had some that looked to be about the same age, based on feather development, and I took the first two we were able to catch. They must be bantams, because they're much smaller, but that doesn't seem to matter. By the first evening with Merry, they were all snuggled together in the brooder. Merry follows me around the yard, and now the other two follow Merry. One of the new ones is a frizzle, and a blonde to boot. I do hope they all turn out to be girls! I'm afraid we're going to have to rename Harriet, because I think I heard the beginnings of some crowing this morning. This is not good, since I live in the city, and roosters aren't allowed. I did just learn that she/he?? is a blue andalusian. I found out where the garden store got them- McMurray's, and they verified the breed for me by email. I guess it's time to find out what they do about roos that are sold as pullets!!

The hatcheries only give 90% accuracy and so many people pick up the chicks in the store and just put them down wherever that they don't guarantee either. Your best bet would be to try to find him a new home unless your neighbors are a lot nicer than mine. My neighbors would never tolerate hearing crowing all day.You could take pictures of the babies and the ones you are not sure about and post them in the breed and gender section. They are good at figuring out what breeds and sex they are. I enjoy checking out those posts so I can learn.
