Consolidated Kansas

Wow Hawkeye! It's looking great! Keep going! You are almost there.

Danz-Remember I want some of your seramas! I been asking on the serama thread about crele pattern in Seramas. I think I would like to breed toward that goal.

I remember. I've been making it a point to watch the whites. Since you gave me the guidelines I know I have some that are less than perfect, but some that seem alright. But then I never profess to breeding show quality. I do want to work on a better breeding program when I get some of these sold. Problem with them is genetics are so unpredictable in them.
I'm disgusted. I spent an entire afternoon installing a new storm door. I got it all installed as directed and then opened the box that had the handles and closers in it. Would you believe it only contained the outside parts of the handles, no screws, spring, shafts or anything to make it work? So I had to tape the stupid door open and I hope the wind doesn't blow too hard before the other parts get here. What a rip! It's a full view door so it's 90% glass. Makes me very nervous. DH is working night shift so I am on my own. Of course they are going to mail the parts but that will take a few days. I really don't want to spend $30 in gas to go get a handle to get my by so I guess I'll just wait. Drat!!!

Most people get a paper called the shopper that has local listings but for some reason we don't any more. I go on line to Kansasauctions.net
I assume you are talking about normal auctions not animal or bird auctions.

I wish I could get my freind Don to join byc, he attends all the bird auctions in eastern, ks and some in the surrounding states. Lol I have to call him if I want to know when one is. I think he would be valuable member and really enjoy our convos on here.

There's adds for the auctions in the HOAGBA newsletter. I am sure that is probably his source of information. Yes it would be great if he would join. BTW if you can get his email address I want to send him a message. I may have some business for him. That's if it is ok with him. I have his phone number but I really hate to make phone calls. Just send me a PM

HOAGBA dose publish their auctions but there are quite a few that arn't run by them, and I'm not a member because I don't have any birds right now and can't attend most of the auctions anyway. And once again I pmed you before I checked this thread, lol, you might ask don about his e-mail when you call I don't know it, I do know he has a computer so I'm sure he has an e-mail.

No one else uses the Oxine?? I think I am going to buy it anyway and put it in their water (when they are older) and see if that helps them keep free from disease and health problems. There are so many 'miracle' stories about this stuff in reviews. I'm also impressed with the things it can do for horses.. seems like a good thing to have on hand. I've already been building up a drug store for chickens in my pantry. I have bought the duramycin, electrolytes, etc.. I already have tons of other emergency vet needs for the horses- everything from colic meds and needles to administer to vet wrap... to eye antibiotics.. I like to be prepared. If anything, the years have taught me that animals ALWAYS get sick on a Sunday or a holiday or when your vet refuses to answer the off hours calls that you make (even when they are supposed to be On call). Once, my neighbor called me at 10:30pm at night because her horse got in the fence and ripped open an artery. She nearly fainted and called me to come help. I had everything I needed on hand. I sat in a pool of blood on the ground with my fingers on his artery- there was probably about 2 gallons of blood pooled around me (they can bleed a LOT without really being in danger) and got it stopped. Then wrapped it with baby diapers, and vet wrap, and antibiotics. She took her horse to the vet the next day, but it turned out what I did was the answer anyway.

So get this-- my DH said that he checked into reviews for the Ondura roofing material. Looks like it's not all what it's supposed to be. Apparently it rips, tears and falls apart easily. People were saying that about 5 years after they installed it, it was in such bad shape, they had to replace it. Also, the holes where you nail it in at (even using the rubber washers it comes with)-- it rips holes there and cracks there, and causes bad leaking. With our high winds, I think this would be a bad idea for us. We decided we're just going to buy composite shingles and stick with that. It's going to be more expensive, but it'll be cheaper in the long run since we wont have to replace it. I'm guessing we'll use metal roofing for the section of roof I have planned for the run. I spent some time reading up about this last night and went to tons of sites listed or mentioned the word Ondura. Consensus is not good. Sigh.

! This may be the last house I ever buy. So 4 bottles of wine latter I'm able to still see the light at the end of the tunnel and next Monday we pray that light is not a train! The packing has begun here at our rental house and its shocking just how much crap we have shoved into this house in 2 years! I truly hope the Horses and Chickens love the new place and with the house only being 940sf I hope that I can give up enough to fit into the place.

And if you didn’t know I refer to my partner as my wife but in fact we are not married but became engaged back at the beginning of this month

so we have planned a quick but yet simple week in the small town of Silverton, CO where we will get married and have a short but sweet week to our selves. September next year we will have a nice local wedding for friends and family and fallowed by a reception at the farm. SO with all that it’s going to be one heck of a 2012.

Hope you all are doing well and we will talk to you latter!
