Did I hear Welsummer?

I am working on getting some more. My flock was killed in March and I have hatched and gotten chicks. I currently have 1 from my flock, a trio from Mike (mikeksfarmer) and a pair from FaykokoWV. Actually, the pair is a female and 2 males, so if you are looking for a young roo he needs a good home. He did take FOREVER to feather in so he has the slow feathering gene (just an FYI) but so far his coloring looks good.

If anyone is interested I have a Black Ameraucana that I hatched from Dak's eggs. I can tell you the lines if you want. I have only been holding on to him because he is the only one to hatch out of the eggs and I can't see my investment $$ be eaten, but I really don't want my EE's to be all black.

So please let me know.........

Where are you at? Look at my list of birds and see if there are any you might want to trade for. I have someone who wants to come tomorrow and buy a bunch of my LF cochin and Brahma roosters. I am concerned however that they want them to eat not to breed. It's just a gut feeling I got while on the phone with them. These are too nice to be in someone's pot. I have some others as well. Just depends on what you want.

Danz I am in Wichita.

I would just give him to you. Better than chicken and dumplins. IF you feel like you MUST do something, I wouldn't turn down eggs in the Spring.

Taz, the problem of course will be finding a time to get to Wichita. I'm in no hurry but of course I'm sure you don't want to feed him forever.
I'm thinking If these people call back today I'll see if they are interested in some of my older chicks. I have several kinds and some mixes . If they really just want to build up their stock. I would rather feed a quality bird all winter so it can breed in the spring than have it end up in a pot.

Welcome ! I don't think I've seen you on this thread before. I lived in Council Grove for 22 years and still partially own a house there. (I am selling it on contract.) You may know my old house. It's about 2 blocks north of main on Mission Street. A big old victorian at the NW corner of Mission and Hays.
Aren't chickens great?! I am now down north of Burlington out by the nuclear plant.

I haven't been on before. I just found this thread. We have a rooster that we need to get rid of. If anyone knows of anyone that wants one. He is a mut i am sure. Free of course we just need him gone. No luck on Craigslist yet. It's really nice to meet everyone.

Hiya!!

I've never heard of White City and had to look it up. I'm afraid I don't know anyone out in that direction, except some of those on this thread- hopefully you will find someone to take him soon.

Danz, Estes Hatchery has a really nice line of Wellies that they bought from an old breeder's estate when he passed. It's only been in the last 2 or 3 years, so the breeding hasn't fully fallen away from his fine-tuning and selections. I'd buy from them in a heartbeat, because they are gorgeous and lay very nice terra cotta eggs- had a whole flock and sold them to a gal in Baldwin.

I'm trying to get back on my feet- one bronchial thing after another and I'm still pretty knackered from it all. On all sorts of inhalers and pills, potions and tinctures. Hope to be done with it all and catch up before winter smacks us off our feet soon- sheesh! Need to get the painting done and start putting up the 6mil clear plastic on all the windows and porches. My pens have a front run that is plasticked in the winter but opens onto the rest of the run so they have a warmer sheltered area.

I'm just so TIRED of feeling sick!!!

Shanna, You could probably take him back to Manhattan to the swap. Write Free in the cage and someone will take him. I'm guessing they will have one more swap this year.
Renee, try golden seal root. I was always chronic sick with bronchitis and pneomonia. My doctor at the time knew I was into alternative medicine. I had pneumonia for over 3 months that wouldn't completely clear with high powered steroids and antibiotics. She suggested golden seal. I buy it at Walmart. Anyway the next time I went for a check up the pneumonia was cleared. Golden Seal removes toxins from the body. So the first time or two you take it you might experience some diarrhea. The body really dumps out all the bad stuff from your system. That of course stops when you have gotten rid of a lot of that stuff. It's like $7 a bottle. Take one in the AM and one in the PM and I will guarantee you'll get better.

On a different subject there was ice in the water pans this morning. Even one of my hoses was iced up to some extent. I a NOT ready for this weather. I sure hope it warms up next week so I can really get some stuff done. I just don't handle cold at all. I guess I should be thankful it has been mild up till now.
