Well now I have a dilemma I don't know what to do about. I had given my Mom a baby duck a couple months ago hoping it would make her want to get well so she could take him outside and have him follow her. Due to their health it has now gotten to be too much for them to handle to to feed, water, and clean the cage. I just spent $25 on duck diapers so they could let him out of the cage and not make as much mess. Of course I guess I mismeasured and they were way too big for him.
But after I took her to church this morning I had to bring him back home. The problem is this duck has never seen another duck or animal other than humans. I tried putting it in with the baby ducks I have out there and it is even scared of them. I don't know what to do with him. I really don't have room or need any more animals in my house. I don't have a fenced yard that he could stay in away from the other animals.
He really needs a fenced yard with a little protection from the weather and a family with a couple kids to play with him. He would be fine as long as the kids interacted with him now and then. This duck is used to sitting in a person's lap and snuggling in the fold of your elbow. But of course without diapers that can become a mess.
So I am open to any suggestions or anyone who would like to have a pet duck. Why do my random gifts turn out to be another mess for me to take care of?

I would take your duck danz, but the land lady won't let me have anymore than my dog and fish

I am SW of Topeka about 30 miles. Won't be any pictures today. A duck came out of hiding with 10 ducklings. Grrrr Now to find a place to stash them. Anyone want some muscovy ducklings? They are sooooo cute!!!! And 4 of them will be black barred.

Awesome! Your sister and I have so much in common.
Well all, I could just scream. I took my Mom to church today and hurried home because I had someone showing up to get birds. DH had made arrangements to pick up some wheels about an hour and half from here and had to leave. He couldn't wait any longer. The plan was to take him out to dinner for his birthday.
Well it was a no show , no call deal and he is still gone. I could have gone with him and taken him to eat. So instead I baked a cake for him. Got the wrong box and didn't discover it until later. This one expired in 2010 and didn't rise. So not only did I let him down for a birthday dinner but I made him a cake that is flat. Talk about feeling like a failure. My whole day has pretty much been that way.
WHY do people tell you the are coming if they aren't going to show?? That drives me nuts. This time it really became a problem. Most of the time I plan to be home anyway. Grrrrr!

I can't believe how funny that is! Oh, that totally figures! I did something similar a while back with yeast-- I had bought new yeast and somehow (I didn't even know I had OLD left over) grabbed the wrong packages! Bread didn't rise and I was trying to figure it out when I saw the new packets on the counter where I left them. Geez. I wasted a whole bottle of beer in that bread, too. Maybe you can take him out tomorrow night? Oh! And Happy Birthday to your Dh! My mom's birthday is today, too!!! We went out last night for dinner with her. Well, I never got those pics taken. Sigh. I didn't get much done today anyway. With church, pumpkin carving with the kids, and then doing the Trunk Or Treat tonight, I just didn't have time to get started. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, though! Anyway, crack open some vino, pop in a movie and call it a night!
