Thanks hawkeye, he is the oldest bird, as he is closer to being in full feather, but his tail is still coming in. He will look a lot different in anouther 3 weeks or so!

This would be too far for you to drive, and right now I don't know their schedule. Bronson, Ks. has a place that does chickens on certain days. That is where we take our broilers after the fair. They will leave them whole, or cut them up for you. They do a good job.

That is exactly what I am looking for but definitely don't want to drive 3.5 or 4 hours!

Not sure how far it is for you, but Baumann's in Garnett is where I took mine, and they were wonderful, clean, nice, and seemed very ethical about their methods. These things are all very important to me. You'll want to call them quick, as they'll be closing up until February at the end of this month. You'll need to make an appt.

Oh, wait...that's even farther for you...hmmmm

Or of course you could always butcher your own, or sell them as meat birds to someone else if feeding them is what you are trying to avoid. I didn't know Baumanns closed at the end of the month. Looks like I've procrastinated a bit too long. I know DH will never take my butcher birds for me.
I thought today was going to be a fairly nice day but with that wind blowing like it is it's going to be awful. I have to make a trip to town this morning which will shoot my morning, but I've still got tons to do this afternoon. Just isn't enough time to get things done.

Butchering them myself is what I want to avoid. The thought gives me the willies and makes me sick to my stomach. It is all I can do to cull a bird when the need arises let alone try to process them. I am willing to sell them but my husband wants the meat.

Did you call Stroods Locker in Mulvane? I think that is their name... They didn't do birds there? If not, that's a real bummer, because that was going to be my plan if i ever got into meaties. Then there is also another place in Derby, but they are really small and I dont remember their name! They have a deer sculpture out front, so I guess they dress out people's deer and pheasant.

This wind is INSANE today! OMGosh!! I had lots of outdoor plans for today...

Ah well, when it warms up, I'm going to attempt it anyway.

Yeah I called them the other day and they don't do birds. We were thinking of doing meaties this spring but if I can't find someone then that idea is a no go. It is super windy out there! My young birds look like they are gonna blow away!
