Hey Danz, when do you put your serama eggs into lockdown? I understand sometimes they hatch early.
I just candled the eggs in the 'bater. Out of about 2 dozen I had 6 that didn't start developing. I'm not surprised since all of these eggs were from young pullets that just started laying and all most all of them had been layed on the floor of their pens and some were pretty darn dirty. I pulled out 3 BC Marans, 2 ameraucana and 1 rosecomb. I need to fix up a better way to candle, or else buy a nice egg candler. Those marans eggs are so dark they are really hard to candle. Unfortunately one of my DARKEST marans eggs was one of the ones that wasn't fertile. Guess I better get the a brooder ready. I think some of mine could start hatching in a few days. I wish I knew when my broody little hen started. She was hiding back there and I didn't realize she was sitting on a clutch of eggs. It could be that hers start to hatch soon or it might be a week or two. I just don't know. I hate to disturb her much in the meantime.
