Consolidated Kansas

My blue slate eggs I am trying to hatch look like that as well.
Marhsmallow isn't doing well. As soon as DH gets up I am going to see if he will help me get her up. I don't want to upset her but she is doing exactly what she did the last litter . She needs to get up and get some exercise. Now I'm kicking myself again for allowing her to get bred again.

hello!

danz so sorry to read about your pups, hope all goes well with mom and the 7.

trish your pups are cute. like mollie -she loves to get on the roof and when she jumps up excited about a smell- well...the roof is in need of a redo..

hawkeye your egg is big.. glad she is laying for you.

cherwill( did I spell that right) your roo is just fine I thought I had lost him that first day. I wasn't going to let him out of the coop, but him and the hens had a different idea, and slipped out befor I knew it. That was the day it snowed --I hoped he would be with them in the coop but when I got home he wasn't there.. so I got the flashlight and looked around -we have a lot of places he could get undersomething to get out of the weather, a couple of goat sheds-not there-some tin against the barn -not there- old dog houses- not there ...hummm...
shined the light out in the goat lot to see if he was out there.. mollie (dog) was setting looking at the back lot by the big evergreen trees.. so I opened the gate and let her go look- following her I was shining the light under the trees to see if he was there but no - mollie is still sniffing intently tho--maybe in the trees ? no but right in front of me almost in my face there he sat on the cattle panel fence. whu!! he was so happy to be picked up and snuggled right up to my coat/warmth- he was in the coop since then so maybe today as it is sunny and warming.. will get a pic if I can..

I have been playing on this site all day, learning how to get around and where things are located.. I must get something done on my days off.. have a great day all!!

The sun is out, and it is warming up nicely now, but I guess I have the winter blues. Need to start my hatcher up and get it warmed up will be moving some eggs over into it sunday. Have not candled any. If they are clear, casper and earl get treats. Dark go into hatcher.

The trio that I sold in Okla. are doing well, and he is more than pleased with the birds. They started laying in transit, I think that is funny, as they were not laying here.

Too bad you don't have a tom, but, she will get broody if you do not keep them picked up.

Trish-- nice looking pups, they will grow so fast, and then the teenage stage---gets funny!

Looking

to buy some blue laced red wyandottes to hatch and give to kids in 4H that do not have any way to get nice chickens. Any body on here have any? I know the kids will be so happy. I will have some ameraucana's, and some marans, but I have to have a variety of chicks so we don't end up with a hundred birds, all the same breed and color at the fair this summer!

I would be interested in other breeds to, but I have to be careful don't want to end up with breeds the kids are not interested in. Think I better go lay down, still really tired, sure glad it is Friday.

Can you give her a shot of oxytocin to get her clean out? Maybe some b vitamins?

chickendanz - I'm more of a "lurker" on this site than a participant, but I've been keeping up with Marshmallow and the pups. Sorry you are having such troubles, I'll pray that she starts to feel better soon. I'm glad the puppies (especially the one you had to bring inside) are doing so much better.

Danz, I'm sorry the puppies didn't make it and that Ms.M is having troubles.

The birds are still missing and I've now spoken with dozens of people all over the country, been hung up on by Gloria, at the Consumer Affairs office for USPS in California, had people tell me there's no way to track them from one point to another, and I'm terribly sad and livid. If they are still alive, it's looking as if they won't be before these people find their way through a very broken system. USPS forgot to put a corresponding tracking number on the box when it got handed off to FedEx, it looks like, and someone somewhere isn't doing anything about an 18"x18"x12" box full of birds sitting there motionless. I've spoken with FedEx, USPS, and I'm getting ready to contact the press. This is just too much...HOURS on my phone. This is going to make for a lean month when I get to the end of my billing cycle.

Will anyone who feels like it please pray that these birds get located soon so they can get some food and water?

There are only a handful of these in existence...losing 4 females who made it to point of lay would be a tremendous loss.

I'm just beside myself with helplessness.

checoukan, thanks on the pups. What exactly did you mean about the teenage stage getting funny? This is my first experience with this breed of dog, so it's all new to me.

Danz, I know you're probably wiped out, but what does the Vet say you need to do for Marshmallow? I hate to see her get sick from just laying there, Is there someone that can help you move her? She really has to move around.

Oh Renee, this is just awful! I'm so, so very sorry they are lost! I sure hope that they can be located or someone will open their box and give them water. Poor things. I prayed for them, and sure hope they can hold out long enough to make it home to you or someone else will intervene and feed them. I wonder where on earth they could have gone! I suppose you already called your airport and the sorting centers. :( Keep us updated!

Danz, I hope Marshmallow will be okay.

Checoukan, I'm going to eat this egg! See what it's like, I guess. I've never had a turkey egg. I hope we get another tomorrow. Yeah, I'm torn on getting a tom for her. I'll probably just leave it alone since I don't have a pen that she will stay in for now. Do you have Royal Palms? I was really surprised with the color of her egg. It's smooth-- but that speckle really threw me! :)

Trish, I LOVE the new photos you took of your puppies. I think the second one (the one you put in your avatar) is the best! They are so pretty! They still look really mischievous and playful.

Checoukan-I'm here. Just been busy. Had to take care of some stuff for Mike and slept a little late because I worked late. Our manager was sicker than a dog
sickbyc.gif
last night and really should not have even been there. Since I'm second in command I had to handle some stuff I don't normally have to do plus try to get my work done and put on a pizza dinner for the employees. I ran a little late.

I still have to get out and take care of birds.

I'm sure you are frustrated as can be! I can't imagine how they could loose a box of live birds. Gee whiz. It seems like that would be something that would take extra care in handling and that it would be hard to loose. I've had such good luck with shipped birds and chicks and our post office here has been excellent to deal with. I hope they find your birds soon. What a bummer. I know I would be furious! I hope you can build a fire under somebody's butt and get something done!

Danz-It sounds like vet time ASAP for Marshmallow
fl.gif
. I hope you get her up and well quickly. I agree on the oxytocin. I'm sure you are doing everything you can. I know what she means to you. My heart would be in my throat for sure.

Trish-I love the pic of the two pups. They have such a cute look on their face. I'm trying to picture the one on the roof, and I get a pretty funny picture in my head. It seems quite normal, though. Our dogs very often choose the highest point for a lookout spot. They are just so awesome.

The older one has always been the mentor for the younger one. Now that he is getting a little older and slower, the younger one, Runt, is starting to take over and actually seems protective of the older one. Buddy still seems to be very much on the lookout much of the time and is often the first one to react.

Hawkeye-Congratulations on Seymour's egg. I used to use turkey eggs to bake with. They have a little different consistency, and they made great cakes!

Hello to all the newbies and lurkers!

Lets see, how old are your pups? 4 or 5 months? Well the teenage years start in about lets say 5 or 6 more months, and last for up to 8 months, and then, all of a sudden, they realize they are adults, and they totally change to the best dogs a person could ask for. Before that, sometimes they can be real pains in the butts.
