IVY, it sounds like you had a very nice birthday. I hear you on not being able to get up on a horse, my knees are so bad I'm with you they would have to have a big crane to lift me up & drop me on the horse, poor animal. I'm eventually looking at having to get new knees myself. I only hope when the time comes I can do even half as well as you have, I think you have done amazingly well. My spider bite is doing much, much better & the other spots that came up are all dried up & are fading now. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get a sort of burn on your skin from the venom. If the spider was in my shoe & got smashed in there & there was poison on the shoe that got on my foot I just wonder if that could happen. I haven't ventured to put those shoes back on again since that happened. I think I will clean them out with some vinegar to see if it gets rid of any residue in there. I wear those garden shoes whenever I go outside, so I hate to not be able to use them any more, they weren't cheap. That sounds exciting about the place you found too, I hope it works out for you. I didn't think you wanted to move that soon, but if you found a place you love then you have to grab it when you can.
Hawkeye, I wonder how you can arrange a meal & tour like you had, that sounds like a lot of fun. I was telling my DH about it & he kind of looked interested. Of course he works most Saturdays, so it's hard for us to plan much of anything.
Danz, I'm so glad you got your eggs all right, I hope they hatch for you. I'm wondering about the Welsummer eggs I got, they got some really rough treatment getting here. Oh, I was going to tell you that I candled the peacock eggs in the cabinet incubator & saw growth I think in all 4, it was only a week, so it's still early. I'll let you know how the ones in the
Brinsea do that I'm hand turning. The guy I got them from is very interested in how they do also. He wrote me & asked how they arrived & wants pics when they hatch. That's nice when people are so interested in the eggs they sell, not just the money.
I made a flying trip to Wichita yesterday evening to do my shopping at Sam's & then bought more groceries at Wal Mart. I didn't get home until after 11 last night & hadn't done all my chores. I had fed the chickens & put them up, but didn't have time to do anything else & make it in time to get up there before Sam's closed, so I had to do it later. The animals were all pretty upset with me.
I put two more Ameraucana chicks out in the brooder today & have 3 more eggs in the hatcher. I think I have about 21 more eggs in the incubator & then I'm done for this year unless someone requests chicks. I hadn't planned to hatch all summer, so I made the stop date the end of June. I have to focus on building my breeder coop anyway. I think my DH is going to finish up with leveling & squaring up the foundation today & then we can start getting wood & actually building, I can't wait!
