well, I was working on a blinkie for the thread, but this is a work in progress. For some reason, it looks a bit blurry... But I tried filling in the extra pixels with the anti-alias, and tried different sizes and fonts... I don't know what I'm doing wrong! (i did want to try to keep with a "western" font) I used to be able to whip out blinkies in no time flat, but that was years ago when people used them for everything and they were super popular and I'm using a diff program now and I've obviously forgotten how I did it. Sigh. Ah well. If you all want to snag this, feel free. If I come up with something better, I'll post it and let you all know.

So far, today was okay, but it was SUPER yucky hot out there! I have all the misters going on the birds to keep them cool, poor things. They are hanging in there. I've been kicking back a bit today and not doing a whole lot. The house is clean and I'm exhausted from my world of chaos earlier this week. I know it's only going to start again in a few days. But I'm looking forward to it. :)

I don't know if your DH would like a pea fowl running around the house with a giant tail!!!

I tried to put my 3 call ducklings in with the magpie ducklings but they were getting really wet and the bigger ducklings were kinda chomping on them so I put a quick end to that and they are back in their own brooder. I have been staining the wood ceiling in the house so I wanted to move them out to the garage so they weren't in here getting high on stain fumes. They sure aren't happy about their move! Every time I go out they are cheeping away.
Maybe chicken diapers would work better on peas!! LOL! (rather than ducks)

That is so neat that you have a wood ceiling!! Is it just beams or actually like tongue in groove along the entire ceiling? I love that look!

Josie, a peafowl couldn't be any worse than that silly Chopper was. The chick did take a 5 minute nap but is yelling again. It's like a crying baby with a tummy ache. It won't shut up and you don't know what to do with it.
I had a sad loss today. I have three baby diamond doves. The mother of one of them left the nest a couple days ago. I was about ready to take it and try hand feeding it but I saw her back in there this morning. Well the poor little thing starved to death. I have no idea why she deserted it. It was so tiny. Maybe she is a first time layer. But if she does it again she is out of here. I have way too many as it is. I just didn't know which ones to sell.
I've been running water all day long literally. First the birds, then the garden which took all afternoon and still some stuff isn't wet. Now I am attempting to save whatever is still viable in my flower bed. I have a couple crepe myrtles my mom bought me 2 summers ago and I have to keep them going. I've lost so much other stuff that just burnt up cause I feel guilty about running up the water bill.

Hawkeye- It is a pine tongue in groove type panel across the whole ceiling including beams wrapped in pine. We gutted this house when we bought it and it is 120 years old so I thought the pine ceiling would be more earthy and farm house appropriate. But now I am staining it and it is a pain! I was going to just poly it but it wasn't bring out as much of the richness in the wood so I am doing a light colored stain. I think it is called Ipswich pine?

I don't know, a pea might be worse than a duck! They will perch on anything! At least chopper could only run around on the floor. Poor baby dove, that is sad. I had to take a clutch of eggs away from a broody who broke one open and was eating it!! They were early on, maybe 4-5 days in at the most but gross!!

Love the blinky.

Love it! Thank you for doing this. I've definitely saved it. Now we need a new member to show up so I can use it....

I just popped in to see what's up with everyone. I've been crazy busy but will catch up with everyone soon.

I had a great time visiting Danz yesterday! Thanks so much, Danz, for sharing your little paradise with me. It was such a treat. The variety of birds was just wonderful to see and I was just amazed by all she has accomplished. Then, I wanted to sneak her great big old baby of a Great Pyr home with me. He is just a gigantic dog but such a love. When you pet him he just leans in to your leg, it's adorable! I'll tell you all about my 4th of July adventures when I am not quite so tired.

Heather, I'll PM you in the a.m.

Danz, my baby peafowl hasn't stopped peeping since it was hatched, literally. It walks back & forth & back & forth up & down the fence of the pen peeping. The others don't know what to think of it because they don't do that. They call to it, but it doesn't seem to be connecting with them for some reason. I pick it up & it's just feathers & bones, I can't even imagine what is keeping this thing alive this long. It doesn't stop pacing long enough to go eat or drink I'm sure. I took out some tiny pieces of apples & broken up bread for the peachicks this evening because I read that they like those kinds of things, but they ignored them. I honestly didn't know it was going to be such a challenge to keep these birds. I may have to call the guy I got these older ones from & ask him what he has been feeding them. I have feed that I give to the turkeys that is a little higher in protein because the turkeys & the peafowl need a higher protein than the chickens. It's kind of mixed with some people saying they feed chick starter to their peafowl & some say no that's not enough protein. I didn't get the highest protein, what I have is kind of in the middle. My turkeys are doing great on it, so they must be getting what they need. I haven't really given them treats much & today I gave them some bread scraps & apple & they kind of just looked at it. I put up a roost for them this evening too & they were just staring at it, they don't really know what to do with it yet, but maybe they will figure it out soon.

I've just been wiped out today. I still don't feel well after all of the stuff with the ear infection & sore throat & the antibiotics now I'm dealing with the fallout from those. I have had to take so many antibiotics over time because I had chronic UTIs for years & it has really messed my body up. Now when I have to take them I immediately have to fight off the resulting yeast, that's what I'm fighting now, it's just a vicious circle.

I never saw the blinky thing, so I don't know what it looked like.

I don't know what has happened with all of my egg buyers, I have eggs out the wazoo now & no buyers, I can't figure out what happened with them. Even the lady who usually comes & buys for the people at work hasn't answered my email. I don't know what to do with all of the eggs I have stored up, my refrigerator is about overflowing with just eggs & we hardly have room for anything else. Usually when I got some gathered up at least that one lady would come & get a bunch, but she is mia for some reason.

KarenS - I think both of the Sussex have started laying! The eggs are tiny! I will have to take a pic.

Coop v2.0 update - I got 5 rows of shingles on this evening. I think I only need to run about 5 or 6 more rows and then the roof will finally be done. Oh and of course I will toss some shingles on the nesting box as well. I will post pics when I am done.

Time for bed now.

So sorry to hear you are still feeling bad. Perhaps your egg customer is away on vacation and will respond when she gets back?

Here is the blinky that Hawkeye created:

Did you tell your DH about the peachicks yet? How did he react?
