Danz- is that maybe something that can be reported? That is terrible. The ones that come here as long as it isnt my medicine, they dont knock either, they just leave the packages on the doorstep. I dont like that at all. That is alot of money that could have been wasted.

At least it wasn't live eggs. We are lucky. We only have one door, so they have to leave stuff there. Our UPS people are fine, Fed EX?? It depends on the day.

Sharol
I'm totally procrastinating. I don't want to go out into the cold. At least the sun is shining. I ran out long enough to check on a broody hen but that's been it. I'm not feeling very good today. Just all around feeling lousy. Could be this weather too.
I was ONE very unhappy old g-ma while ago. I went out to dump the dust out of my vacuum and found two boxes on my front porch which we NEVER use . Both of them clearly marked DO NOT FREEZE in bright red letters. Apparently the Fed Ex guy was here yesterday and was too darned lazy to knock on the door. There was someone here all day so it really irritates the crap out of me. It was $115 worth of Oxine I ordered. It didn't appear to be frozen but I don't know if it was earlier. That just irritates me so bad. You pay a fortune for delivery and they can't take the time to knock. It wasn't like he didn't know what the forecast is!!! All of the delivery people are the same ones that come here all the time. They all know to use the back door, not the front. It just put me in a bad mood right off the batt. He might have had to walk 10 feet further by going to the back. Grrrr!
Lizzy you worked really hard. I'm so glad you are looking forward to your horses. It will be great!

Well ^&&**%&^$%)()(&^ I just went out and found another Swedish chick that isn't acting right. Same thing as the one yesterday that didn't live very long. I don't understand. Everything is clean disinfected, probiotics in the water and everyone is acting fine. This will make the third one like that. So its time for Vit E, probiotics and electrolytes. I can't figure this one out and usually I can find a reason.

My lousy luck I guess. They have been very healthy chicks and are old enough they shouldn't be having problems. I guess I'll go spray some more oxine in their stall and hope for the best. I'm feeling lousy enough I don't want to do anything but these guys aren't cheap.

Lizzy,
That many pounds of metal should bring you some $$$.

People have been missing several metal items & equipment from their pastures. Meth-heads have been taking metal anywhere they can find it and cashing it in for $$$. The high metal prices have motivated some of the local old farmers to clean up their places and get rid of their rusting metal.

Danz, so sorry your day has been so lousy, with the FedEx delivery and then the SFH. I hope she is doing better...

Lizzy, good going on getting those items cleared out of your pasture. Isn't it amazing how people will just use land as a dumping ground? I've been steadily clearing our pasture ever since we moved here too - the previous people just dumped anything and everything out there. Nothing as big as that and nothing I can turn around and sell for the salvage value either. On the other hand, I've recovered quite a bit of scrap lumber that I've been able to add to my scrap pile. I like to have an assortment of different sizes of lumber so when those little projects come up, I can usually find something "perfect".

I've just come in from a kind of frustrating trip to town where nothing went like it should, and I thought I was in for the night, and was ready to go and let the birds out for a little free-range time. But, I just got a phone call reminding me it is my night to feed. Drat. Bother. It means a 20-minute drive each way in the same direction I just came from - an hour and a half trip all told and it will be getting dark by the time I get back. I shouldn't complain - I only have to feed once a month. Nevertheless, I wish tonight wasn't my night....

Lizzy, What a chore! Where there's a will there's a way, huh?

Danz, Sorry you're feeling lousy. I was too a couple days ago but I got over it quickly. That's just not like me to get over something that fast. I think all the work with the birds and being outside has strengthened my immune system a bit. I wonder what the heck is getting to your Swedish? That is just the pits. I'm really sorry to hear it. I've had really good luck with mine and I'm holding my breath that it will hold with the change of seasons to colder weather.

Trish44, One of these little Ameraucanas I got from you lost it's tail feathers to one of the others and it's the craziest bird. It is the first to complain about anything and whenever we catch it, it raises a ruckous that could raise the dead. She's not really serious about any of it, she's just really noisy! She makes us laugh a lot. Today she got a name. DD picked her up and she squawked and carried on and on about it even though she wasn't fighting to get away. DD said "Oh be still, Sassy!" So she's got a name. What a character! We've really enjoyed her. It's so funny how different each bird can be. This one is a true Drama Queen. My Swedish are really enjoyable birds. The crests are really cute and I love the colors. I have one Swedish that is solid red! How odd is that? He's really bigger than the others and was a plain brown chick that has turned into a red boy. That's interesting because he should be great crossed with my Alohas for creating more ginger and white spotted chicks. That's my hope anyway.

HEChicken, I forgot to say way to go on kicking Cyrus' nasty butt. I hope this is the last of his nonsense. I got a Speckled Sussex roo that is already 2 years old, he's has much more white than my roos so I was happy to find him. The problem with him is that he wants to fight every other roo on the place! Big Red and Big Spotty have both squared off with him before I could get him rounded up and so I figured out pretty quickly he has to stay penned. I really like him, even though he's seemingly turned my other sweet roos into killers!

Hope everyone's staying warm!
